The fifth episode of the action/sci-fantasy series “Alice to Zouroku” brought the 5-part OAV to a great close – there was spectacular action, the antagonists were soundly trounced, and the protagonists got to live happily ever after. Now, what is “Alice and Zouroku” going to do for the last 7 episodes of its run?

I joke about a 5-part OAV but that's just what the first five episodes felt like. In the 80s and 90s this would have been an OAV, but that part of the anime market has disappeared in the 21st Century. Now what will happen to this series? Will it:

Become just another cute girl slice-of-life show, with magic?
Bring in new antagonists?
Teach the audience about flower arranging on a weekly basis?

The audience already knows from a brief scene in episode 4 that a “good end” is in the cards. So where can the creators of this series go? Oh well, I may as well get ready to learn about ikebana...

We still don't know, what Alice actually is. If "Minnie C" did not lie,
she is not human. But she can't be completely unearthly either, as she
obviously did develop completely normal human feelings, even though she
was locked away and mis-treated her whole previous life. Would be nice,
if they could develop this further.

Also, we don't know the true intentions of the governmental organization
which rescued Alice from the clutches of the laboratory. I doubt they
are letting her "live happily ever after", as they were monitoring her
and they do employ adult "Dreams of Alice" for some reason beyond
baby-sitting.

Yes, it needs to be developed further if there's any hope for this
anime, IMO. I'm much less happy with _Alice to Zouroko_ than I am
with, say, _Re:Creators_. I haven't been able to imagine a back story
that allows Alice to have completely normal human feelings and completely
normal language understanding (and unbounded super powers) while the only
thing she needs to recover from her upbringing is a parent figure.
