I've watched more first episodes than normal for me. There are a
several decent new shows out there, but so far none that seem like they
might be truly exceptional.

_The King's Avatar_ : rated 8. Probably the most popular anime of the
season. Most folks have never heard of it so I'll describe it a bit more
than the others: A pro video-gamer is dismissed from his team after years
at the top. He gets a job at an internet cafe and plays the game for fun.
This is a slice-of-life, adult character oriented (mid 20's in age?) drama,
which I tend to like. Excellent music and video quality, which surprised
me. It's a Chinese anime, based on a completed light novel that has 1728
chapters. The first episode came out last week and had more than 100 million
views in China!

_Seikaisuru Kado_ : rated 8. A 2 kilometer long cube from another
universe lands and negotiations ensue (and are the focus of the
anime). Again, adult characters. I'm a bit worried because "negotiations"
imply very careful language, and thus the English translation is going to be
critical. The scientist role is ridiculous, but science is always tough
to portray, and I don't expect it to be the focus of the show. I'm
curious as to what's going to happen - there's another shoe that has to
drop since negotiations between parties that are this different in power
aren't interesting. (I had originally thought this might be drawing
parallels between this and the Western "negotiations" that opened Japan,
but the power imbalance is too great.!)

_Re:Creators_ : rated 7. This has potential to be good, but also much
potential to be very poor. Battle anime characters are brought to the
real world which they call the "realm of the gods". It's being
treated seriously; only minor humorous incidents of adapting to real
life. As long as the focus continues to be finding out what is
happening, and what that implies, it may work.

_SukaSuka_ rated 7. Humans are basically extinct, but a human is put
in charge of young female "weapons". This again has potential to be
good (_Gunslinger Girl_ season 1 is one of my favorites), but I'm
really not expecting it to succeed.

_Zero Kara Hajimeru Mahō no Sho (Grimoire of Zero)_ rated 6.5. A witch
and half-beast mercenary search for a dangerous book. It might surprise
me; I'll watch a few more episodes.

_Alice to Zouroku_ rated 6.5. a young girl with powers escapes from a lab
and meets a grandfather. I had hopes for this, but it doesn't look like
it's a serious effort.

I'm watching second seasons of:

_Attack on Titan_ rated 9. I expect this to continue to be excellent,
but I don't know if it can continue to draw the parallels between it's world
and escaping the walls of childhood that attracted me to the first season.

_Uchouten Kazoka (The Eccentric Family)_ rated 8. Weird and enjoyable
story of families of tanuki and tengu.

_Nobunaga no Shinobi_ rated 7.5. A series of enjoyable comedic shorts
giving the history of Nobunaga.

_Shingeki no Bahamut (Rage of Bahamut)_ rated 7. I may drop this since
I didn't really get attached to the first season.

Watched and dropped:
_Tsugumomo_ , _Eromanga Sensei_ , _Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ..._
