Hi all,

I noticed something strange with attached sid file.

This file is played nicely with tinysid (I used linux console version
http://www-stud.rbi.informatik.uni-frankfurt.de/~sinsch/new/ tinysid-Dateien/downloads/tinysid-linux.tar.gzip).

But with any program based on libsidplayfp, this file is played horribly.

Is this sid file bad ? Or is it a bug in libsidplayfp ?

What are your opinions about that ?

Vincent

Many people aren't going to see the attachment on your post as this
isn't a binary newsgroup and many news servers will drop the
attachment. Just a FYI in case.

As for the rest, I'd play the sid file on an actual C64 or within the
latest version of the VICE emulator (which, IIRC, uses ReSID) and
compare it with both tinysid and any libsidplayfp players and compare.
For the most part you can probably trust VICE in playing it.

Including the article itself. I never saw it.

VICE has a console SID player called vsid. And many people might also
have Video-LAN-Client (VLC) installed and might not expect it to be able
to play SID files. But it does. The OP should try both and compare to
tinysid. I get a

just realize I have also linked them on my SID web page and better remove
then now.

By the way, attached sid file come from your webpage and from
http://www.rbi.informatik.uni-frankfurt.de/~sinsch/kbsid.zip

Why did you remove kbsid.zip file from your web page ?

OK Tinysid is old but it still works fine with alsa-oss plugin :-)

Thanks for your answers.

That's not my web page. But I had a link to that web page from my SID
related web page, which I just removed due to the fact that TinySID is no
longer maintained.

Might as well be. But why not use maintained software which does not need
helpers like plugins?
