1980 – Nintendo releases the Game & Watch.

1982 March – Emerson releases the Arcadia 2001.

1982 June – Coleco releases the Coleco Vision. It was discontinued in 1984.

1982 June – Milton Bradley releases the Vectrex. It was discontinued in 1984

1982 Summer – Atari releases the 5200 SuperSystem. It was discontinued in Spring, 1984.

1982 – Coleco releases the Gemini (a different console from the Telstar Gemini).

1983 – Bentley releases the Compu-Vision.

1983 –DMS releases the Telesports Mini.

1985 October 18 – Nintendo releases the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was discontinued in 1995.

1986 June – Sega releases the Master System. It was discontinued in 1992.

1986 – Atari releases the Atari 7800, after a limited release in Southern California from June to July, 1984. It was discontinued on January 1st, 1992.

1987 – Worlds Of Wonder releases the Action Max.

1989 June– Nintendo releases the Game Boy.

1989 August – Sega releases the Sega Genesis. It was discontinued in 1998.

1989 – NEC releases the TurboGrafx-16.

1989 September – Atari releases the hand-held Lynx.
