At a guess,

How many titles does Funimation have that are not at Crunchyroll?

How many titles does Crunchyroll have that are not at Funimation?

How many titles do they share in comment?

I really don't know. The first "big show" that they are sharing is
Cowboy Bebop or at least the subbed version. I know this because in a
video by the youtube grarkada, where I first heard about this merger,
this was the show that was specifically mentioned.

I imagine more are planned or perhaps even shared. There might be a
list of such shows on either the Crunchyroll or Funimation site, I just
don't know.

For both the sub and dub of Cowboy Bebop, the Funimation site still
links back to HULU (I just checked before posting this message). The
version available at Crunchyroll does not, or at least does not appear
to.

The show One Piece, in both forms, subbed and dubbed, is available at
the Funimation Site because Funimation owns the NA rights to that show
(or at least I think it does). One Piece, at least in the subbed form,
is available on Crunchyroll, and has been since before the big
announcement of the merger.

I think this is true of other shows as well, I think, so there have been
shows that were shared even before this merger.

So does the merger mean that eventually all titles will be shared
between the 2 sites? I don't know.

What about shows that are not owned by fnimation, such as Ah My Buddha
(currently owned by Nozomi Entertainment). Will that and other titles
not owned by Funimation be taken down from the Crunchyroll site.

The official statements by the 2 companies that I cited in my original
posting about this merger don't go into detail about those questions.
As to whether there is something that does go into more detail, like I
said, I just don't know.

Thanks. I'm thinking about subscribing to Funimation if it had a large
catalog of titles not available at Crunchyroll. Like you, I don't have
a problem with Crunchroll's free content including ads. To me, it's no
different from over-the-air commercial TV broadcasts; I grew up
watching TV that way, so it's no big deal.

I use a Roku device and have both Crunchroll and Funimation in my
feeds. The info for Crunchyroll indicates some 670 (plus or minus)
titles. Because I don't subscribe to Crunchroll, I couldn't tell if
that is its entire content inventory or only those titles available for
viewing without a subscription. The Funimation channel does not give
any indication of how many titles it has nor if there is a difference
in total number of titles depending upon whether you view the free
titles or if you subscribe.

Currently, the best choice for a sub-purist is Crunchyroll (nothing
wrong with being a sub-purist, I just am not),

Most, if not all of their shows are available in subbed form, and only
a select few are available in dubbed form.

The best choice for dubbed fans is the FunimationNow service. In fact,
the answer to one of their questions in their FAQ said, or at least
implied, that the FunimationNow service would be all dubs with all subs
being moved over to Crunchyroll.

Whether the subbed Funimation shows are available on the free version of
Crunchyroll, I don't know.

What will happen to the shows on Crunchyroll that are not owned by
funimation, like Ah My Buddha (Nozomi Entertainment), I don't know
either.

I think it was in a thread by you that I explained the technical
problem with the shows on the Funimation site that are hosted by HULU,
which seems to be many of them, especially the older ones such as Fruits
Basket and Big Windup and accessing them if you use the Linux OS, so I
won't reexplain that problem.

I however, have to wonder if that deal between Funimation and HULU is
coming to an end, because the show Rage of Bahanut: Genesis, which to my
understanding is a relatively new show, appears to be hosted on
Funimations servers and is not a link back to HULU, and I have no
problem streaming it.

I finished reading the Crunchyroll forum discussion about the
partnership between the two companies. If I understand it correctly,
then my question is moot, and I would be better off with a subscription
to Crunchyroll. Sorry about chasing a red herring. It seems to become
a question of how quickly the migration of content between them occurs.
