Today, was the closing ceremony of the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, and as
usual, future hosts present a brief show during the closing ceremony.

Tokyo is scheduled to host the 2020 Summer Olympics, and as part of
their presentation, they included Captain Tsubasa, Doraemon, Mario Bros
and Hello Kitty

The Prime Minister of Japan, traveled from the Shibuya Crossing to the
Maracana Stadium, through a tunnel drilled with the help of Mario and
Doraemon, climbing out of a pipe and dressed up as Mario.

It will be interesting if they enroll anime characters as their sports
pictograms or mascots, i.e.

Captain Tsubasa at football matches,
Yawara - Judo,

Well 4 more years, if I was to know Yawara would be on hand
I might managed to stick around a bit longer. By this time it should
be Yawara's children or grand-children. Well though I hope they
do use anime characters in the 2020 Olympics as mascots.

Someone dressed as Gohan for the boxers, Ranma for martial arts (can
cover both genders), what else?

So far, justice departments of several countries have not been able to
find evidence against Mr. Togo, and the time he has served jail, was
because it was required to complete a 'job' ;)

A good argument if he was a dictator or an American gunsel.
But he is a character and his actions are clearly at odds with even
the Japanese version of Law and Order.
Can you see American kids being encouraged to act like
Two-Face aka Harvey Dent and his image being chosen to be an
Olympic mascot. Bad enough they are given the image of masked
vigilantes to emulate and aliens from other planets.
The only place these sort of characters succeed is in
comic books or manga from which it is hard to inflict damage on
the ink-free population at large.

bliss.
