[Just so you guys know followups are set to ram as well as raam.]

Hi readers and typers.

Just finished watching the anime version of
KURAGEHIME Manga
; Kurage Hime; Princess Jellyfish
Released: 2008
Author & Artist Higashimura Akiko
Genre(s): Comedy, Gender Bender, Josei, Romance, Slice Of Life

Kurashita Tsukimi is a "kurage (jelly fish) otaku" girl
who wants to be an illustrator. She comes to Tokyo and
starts to live in a girls-only apartment, Amamizukan.
One day she meets a fashionable lady, who saves a jelly
fish. But she turns out to be a man in drag.
Nominated for the 3rd Manga Taisho Award (2010) and won the 34th
Annual Kodansha Manga Award in the Shojo category.

Considering that the manga took a lot more time to cover
the same ground this is an excellent romcom with a touch
of gender transgression.
The illustrator becomes a fashion designer with the
encouragement of the TV boyfriend who is into fashion
from the get-go.

The anime version is definitely lighter than the manga
where a lot more exploration of motives is done in the
course of the manga,
I really enjoyed the manga which is the work of
Higashimura Akiko (pseudonym of the artist/artist).
I thought it was pretty good and read a lot of the
story before I was distracted by another of her works:

KAKUKAKU SHIKAJIKA Manga かくかくしかじか
Released: Author & Artist Genre(s):
2011 Higashimura Akiko Josei, School Life

This is an autobiography of the mangaka-author, whose real name
is Akiko Hayashi, which begins while she's in her third
year of high school.
I won't point to Higashimura as a epitome of mangaka but she
is very very good. Her earlier work may not be as interesting
as she was aiming at a younger market.

The Kakukaku Shikajika really is aimed at more mature
readers as it recounts the relations between her first real
art teacher and herself over a couple of decades as well
as her struggle to become a mangaka.

Last week this was offered as a special via TSRI and for
less than $20.00 I decided I could afford to buy the anime
and support the art of Higashimura. It would have been
worth a lot more but I don't have a lot of money to throw
around due to the expense of dental work this year.
