I keep watching WatchMojo on YouTube and watch their top 10 lists,
especially if they are about anime, and I can't quite figure out why.

Well, any way, their latest list (or at least one of their recent lists)
is about the best magical girls:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooMEcgJp-40.

Unfortunately, it doesn't have my favorite magical girl show, Pretty
Cure: Splash Star (Cure Bloom and Cure Egret), at least I think that is
my favorite magical girl show as it is at least my favorite from the
Pretty Cure series.

Also, wasn't Tokyo Mew Mew redubbed, with the new dub being at least more
accurate than the original Mew Mew Power dub. Or is that Cardcaptor
Sakura I am thinking of. I am pretty sure that at least one of those got
a redub that is "more accurate" to the original Japanese ("better" is
another matter, I suppose).

Also, my favorite from any given show is the smart one: Mai (Cure Egret,
Splash Star), Honoka (Cure White, Pretty Cure), Ami (Sailor Mercury,
Sailor Moon). etc.

I also think in the dub of the original, they should have changed Pisard's
name to Picard instead of Pijard or Pichard or whatever and gotten
Patrick Stewart (or a Patrick Stewart sound-alike like in X-men
evolution) to voice him,

If you want to broaden your experience in Magic Girl series, you might want to
check out "Comet-san" (aka "Cosmic Baton Girl Comet-san"), "Sugar Sugar Rune"
or "Saint October".

There is both a Cardcaptors dub and a Card Captor Sakura dub;
I don't know about a revised dub for Mew.

I have yet to finish Sugar Sugar Rune, but the subbers finally finished
Saint October in 2014. It was a very long wait for fans as the last few
releases were months apart. Another group did a rerelease from the DVD so
torrents may be still out there, and there is always CD-Japan of course.
Hard to find but a fun show.

I think the difference being that Cardcaptors uses the American viewing
order and scrambles the show to highlight Li Syaoran more, while CCS should
be the original Japanese airing.

I don't know why the top-10 included Cutie Honey when it says right in the
clip that she discovers that she is a cyborg. And Utena? The show
deliberately avoids trying to explain the inverted castle and other aspects
but it's more mystical than magical to me.

I like all the comments for Haruna in Is This a Zomnie. I guess no-one
wanted to vote for Ayumu in magical girl form! :D

Didn't they say, or at least claim, that Cutie Honey was the 1st magical
girl show?

I watched Utena, or at least the few of them on Hulu or somewhere, and I
did not think of it as a magical girl show.

I once saw a review that said that Kaleido Star was a magical girl show.

If I were to make a list of the "best" ("my favorite") magical girls,
though Sora would not be my nominee from that show.

As I said, my favorite is the "smart one," so I guess my nominee from
that show would be Mia? (the girl who was the writer/director in the
second season and who set up the Kaleido Stage website, or at least
maintained it).

But then again, I have stated that my favorite anime dub girl is Hillary
Haag, so perhaps May Wong should be my nominee, I just don't know.

The first Magical Girl in anime is Little Witch Sally;
the first in manga was Secret of Akko-chan.

Honey was the first Magic Warrior Girl.

While Cutey Honey wasn't even shojo, she did have a huge impact on
Sailor Moon.

Saint October was nuts, even for a magical girl anime.

That is why I am not sure why I watch the Watchmojo top 10 lists. They
at least claim that a bunch of Watchmojoholics are surveyed over twitter
or facebook or something.

I don't know it the people surveyed even have the level of knowledge that
I have (I think I at least have a little), just know a few of the shows
that have been on CN, or if they think some thing like "geez, I am so
damn sick of these surveys (Watchmojo comes out with a new top 10 list
every day), I will just pick some stuff at random

I don't know if having anime "experts" would make these lists any
"better," but to me they have the feel that the writers at Watchmojo got
a list of magical shows, wrote them on a wall and threw darts at it.

Then they wrote their scripts after doing about 10 minutes of research on
wikipedia or anime news network.

Again, I don't know why I keep watching them. At least the girl they
used to use sounded like she might be pretty cute.

The new ones are narrated by a guy, so they don't even have that going
for them.

Brian Christiansen (I think I should say that the email associated is a
real email address, but it is a "spamcatcher" address that I perhaps have
only been to twice in the past year, and that was just to empty it. So,
any responses sent to that address will probably not be seen.)

There's a difference?

One can call her an android or a cyborg, but she doesn't run on
anything like real science; she runs on magic, transformations and all.

Bear in mind some Youtube channels are just click-bate for ad revenue, but
if you enjoy them why not continue to do so.

LOL. Well, I'll admit that Shannon Morse makes TekThing a little enjoyable
to watch. And if you need an anime tie-in for that, the Jan.28/16 show has a
Sailormoon key chain in the promo image. ;)

Joining late to the discussion, my vote goes to Comet-san, though my
experience is with the live action drama, anot the anime

Also, Saint Tail, is a magical girl, but the main character is not
exactly magical, see in the link.
