No, it's the game's "have I been run recently" detection, to avoid some setup.
It works by checking three locations in a row that happen to match what ProDOS puts there when a clock is present. I'll remove that check.

Same! The "instant gravity" makes this tedious.
I guess I should probably post my "map viewer" sometime ... =P

Night Mission 18k file is in Asimov /incoming.
If the NIGHTMISSION.HI file is not locked then the high scores can be saved by pressing CTRL-W.
If someone beats your highscore and you don't like that, then before they can press CTRL-W, you press CTRL-R and it will reload the highscore file. :-)

Your commitment to converting these games to run on ProDOS is legendary. Just in case it hasn't been said lately, we (I) thank you!
This thread goes back to 2015! Wow.
How many more games are left?

And he's a lot better than me. XD
I got some ProDOS cracks going back to 2012, but they're generally
inferior to qkumba's. I'd like to say I'm the catalyst, but he's the
MASTER.

You're welcome.

There's also a DOS ports thread from when I was doing those.
That was where I started announcing the ports in a dedicated thread. Prior to that, they are scattered (e.g. "aPLib unpacking" from 2013).
> How many more games are left?
I have no idea. I accept requests. More are being submitted by the day, and the backlog is large and growing.

:-) Thanks. I think that I happened upon the basic idea independently, but your "filecracking Joust" post is absolutely what got me going after the complex ones.
I implemented the aPLib unpacker at the end of 2012, and then looked for simple titles on which to test it, so we are at least close in time.

That's not out of the question either - GMTA ;) (although I'd hardly call
myself a "great mind".
I saw the future - stuff like the CFFA - and the need to make software
properly support it. And that meant porting it over to ProDOS.

4am and I have clean cracks of these ready to convert, so that's a good start.

I don't know about either of these yet. I see that Asimov has Berzap, though.

Sorry I think the game is called Fuji Crowded Speed Way. It's on Alex Lee's image. Sort of a GR-mode Pole Position rip off. It's clean, but uses your favorite DOS3.3LAUNCHER.
I haven't seen a clean version of Berzap, but it's pretty fun (Berzerk ripoff). Uses both Mockingboard and the speech chip if you have them.
Nevermind on those.

Okay, Fuji Crowded Speed Way 6k file is in Asimov /incoming.

I'll check on that. Even a cracked version is better than no version.

Berzap is in Asimov /incoming.
I took the clean screen from v2.1 and replaced the defaced one.
See the secret message by pressing ctrl-^ on the title screen.

With the PRODOS file on the same disk, Berzap no longer fits in 140kb (I didn't compress anything this time). Nothing prevents the other files from being copied to a 140kb disk and run from there, though.

It probably needs the screen to be erased first. I'll check.
Meanwhile, Bouncing Kamungas 16k file is in Asimov /incoming.
It's now a single-loader.

Marble Madness is in Asimov /incoming.
I've also uploaded a picture that shows exactly where to stand to enter the Water Maze.
