I just re-downloaded and re-transferred the hard drive image and I’m getting the same date problem with Ultima V again. This time I tried it in my Apple IIGS and it did the same thing. At this point I’m wondering if either the transfer is bad (I’m uding ADTPro and an Uthernet card) or if my hard drive has some sort of issue. Any way to test this? Other games seem to work, but then some crash (like Airheart).

PRTY.DATA should contain these bytes:
0F 0E 0F 0E 04 06 51 6A FF 00 02 00 1C 00 32 00
00 00 19 00 00 0F 13 00 00 00 01 39 04 06 07 24
00 00 06 04 00 00 73 74 07 00 75 00 FF 9F 00 07

If your copy doesn't match then the transfer is the problem.

Does my ProDOS port of Airheart crash?

Now the party can take a rest without sinking in water.

Dear qkumba.
I find a new bug that viewing map by command "P" aka "Peer at a gem!" in Ultima IV.
This bug may not too easy to be found.
When Journey onward to Britannia and enter a town or a castle immediately, then pressing "P" to view a map and the game would stop working.
But Peer at a gem! before entering building at first, it will work flawlessly.
Do you need my game save to test?

Ok I'll check that tonight. What's the recommended program for checking bytes (I've never looked into programming/development tools on the Apple before honestly).

No, your Airheart crashed IIRC (my disk version works just fine). Could it be that I'm launching the wrong file when I start the program? These are being run from FastBoot 3.4.

Please try

to see if it solves that problem.

If you still have the bug then please send me the game save.

With the ProDOS port (comparing against the 4am crack, under Virtual ][), when a "gem" (orange thing) is collected and a score should temporarily display, the game usually (>90% of the time) graphically glitches instead, painting a large portion of the screen white instead. After 4 "gems" are collected, the game crashes to a garbled text screen and the disk drive starts spinning.

(Same behavior when booting from the ProDOS disk image on asimov or when copied to a virtual hard disk.)

I've found that the final version of the ProDOS conversion works fine
on my IIGS with CFFA3000, BUT, it doesn't work with another IIGS with a
CFFA2 (which behaves more like a conventional IDE hard drive).

If it helps, I kept every versions of your ProDOS conversions qkumba,
as you were sending me different versions to figure out why it wasn't
working with my IIGS with CFFA3K. I remember it worked fine from a 3.5"
disk, but not from my 32meg volume of 8-bit games.

You can download ALL versions, and Matt, you could try them out on your
IIe as well, from the .zip archive for Airheart here:

There's an even newer version (May 2017) on Asimov than what you have in your collection. I updated it to work around the CFFA on IIc issue, which might also overlap with your experience.

Yes, it's likely the same cause, and possibly fixed. Please download again and let me know if it works.

If it's finally working then you can discard these older copies. :-)

Thanks Anthony. I appreciate that.
I'm not Santa Claus. I'm just one of the helpers.
However, if Santa is reading this, perhaps he will bring me a QA engineer, since I am apparently in desperate need of one. :-)

The new binary works when BRUN (yay!) but the LOADER.SYSTEM on the disk image loads the binary at and jumps to $6000, but the binary's start address is $6230, so it crashes into the monitor if invoked.

Thanks, qkumba!

Try the CROSFIRE.SYSTEM file from my crack.

ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/images/games/collect ions/usotsuki_prodos/Crossfire%20(usotsuki%20prodos%20port).dsk

It OUGHT to be able to load either his or my version.

Thunderbombs 14k file is in Asimov /incoming.
If the "THUNDER.HI" file is not locked then the game will save the high-scores.

On my list since 2015. To do it needs code that didn't exist at the time, but which I have written since then, so this might be the year when I finally do it.

Everything is possible, but nothing is easy.

A few years back I did a ProDOS port of the original Castle Wolfenstein
and it's on Asimov:

A quick request, per the post on Typing Games, would you consider porting

Type Attack, by Sirius
MasterType (Double Hires version!) by Zweig

I think these should be a piece of cake, considering your rarified, and spectacular work on the Ultima Series, Prince of Persia, etc...

I haven't tested extensively, but it appears so. Haven't done any extensive playtesting, but I just booted from my HD and ran cwolf.system and it came right up without a problem.

I produce the titles in the "san inc" collection on Asimov.
Some of them will run on the ][+.
For some titles, I used 65C02 opcodes, and that was a mistake.
I am working (slowly!) to convert them all to 6502.
If you see something in the collection that doesn't work for you, then let me know and I can increase its priority.

> Also wish to thank John Brooks for his awesome versions of ProDOS. Also, thanks to all the guys behind AppleWin! you guys rock!

Yes, I agree with both of these things. :-)

You would need the remote control to allow disk switching until I can port it to proper ProDOS.

I don't know about this one. I haven't tried it.

I uploaded a fix to asimov, which follows Apple's rules for setting the
prefix upon startup.. It's in:
pub/apple_II/images/gs/games/cwolf-v1.1.po.

Hi awanderin, thanks for your version of Castle Wolfenstein :-), I love this game.. this, Beyond Castle Wolfeinstein and karateka are my favorites.

i wasnt able to run the new version, im using a ][+ and prodos 2.4.2 (testing my HD image in applewin). When i try to run it, it doenst do anything, just stay in black screen, both in BYE and also accesing the game folder and running in command line.

Anyway, thanks for your time and attention :-)

I just posted my ProDOS port of Castle Wolfenstein to Asimov /incoming.
It runs in 48kb like the original (even if you boot ProDOS in 48kb).

It might even be possible to run it right now from ProDOS, by renaming the disk image to WOLFEN.1 and use my WOLFEN.SYSTEM (from Castle Wolfenstein) to run it.
If someone has a clean crack for it, I'd like to see it.

Thanks Antoine, I should have checked your collection.
I see some other titles of interest to me there, too.
Okay, I will try to port this one tonight.

Prince of Persia "unpacked" is in Asimov /incoming.
This version is suitable for modding, and runs on a 6502 CPU.
