I've kept the documentation on the main PLASMA site more up-to-date. Hopefully a better read:

Spider Raid - single file with title screen - is on Asimov.
I included the initial orange screen that it displays, but the effect isn't quite right. I should have blitted it instead of unpacking it. I might revisit it.

Is there a central place where we can dowload all these PRODOS converted
game (or a list of all AII games that can be installed and launched from
an HD ?)

On Asimov, it's dispatched everywhere... I found one time an url where
some where listed and downloadable, but lost it, there is also some HD
image or whatisthegs have also some 3.5 disk images.

In my case, searching Asimov's site_index.txt file for the string "PRODOS (san inc" will reveal them.
While they are distributed across various locations on Asimov, at least you'll have the complete paths.
Beyond that, I don't know of any dedicated collections.

After a looong fight with it, Impossible Mission ProDOS version is now in Asimov /incoming!
Yes, a 64kb multi-file game that runs in 64kb of RAM, and hard-disk installable, too.
This one shows the end sequence (it even talks if you win!), and saves the scores if the disk is write-enabled.

There's an ugly transition between the title screen and the game screen because I ran out of memory. To avoid it would require either more memory or uncompressed files on disk. At least it's short.

Time to revisit Airheart for ProDOS...

It's not working on my ROM01 IIGS with a CFFA3000. The title screen
reveals itself then the system beep goes off and it hangs. I've tried
this with the original .PO image on Asimov as well as the 32meg ProDOS
image with FastBoot v3.4 and DOS 3.3 Launcher.

Let me know how I could help test this - Airheart is my favourite ever
8-bit game!

Alex, how many CFFA volumes do you have mounted, and is Airheart on Drive 1 or 2 or is it on a larger drive # mounted via smartport?

Hi Alex,

As John implies, it might be one of the currently unsupported configurations.
I will investigate during the coming weekend, when I get my machine back.

I've obtained the newer version from Asimov, but unfortunately it's
still crashing in exactly the same location. The same on my 32meg hard
drive image of 8-bit games and loading the 800 .po image into the
Smartport.

I believe that the main reason for porting these programs under ProDOS is to make possiblile install them on different media from the classic 5.25 floppy.

Here we go again with the problems generated by the AppleWin virtual hard disk.
BC's loops in 7B6D:B0 FE BCS $7B6D. Change the BCS to BCC (or zap it with a couple of NOP) and the program starts.

The BC.QUEST file, if I am not got wrong, is compressed and it is very difficult to find where to apply the patch, but for you it should not be a problem.

It is my reason, at least.

This is why I prefer not to compress my own ProDOS ports. (Though some of
them, like Joust and Donkey Kong, do use compression.)

Yes, emulation in never perfect. But is the best thing we have now and will be the only in the future years.

In this case (as in Gumball) can be a secondary protection.
The program check for a specific value in the DOS nibble conversion buffer.

Using AppleWin with HD emulation on:
1) boot from slot #6 a regular DOS 3.3
2) insert BC's image in slot #6
3) type PR#6 -> All OK
-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-
4) boot ProDOS from emulated HD in slot #7
5) insert BC's image in slot #6
6) type PR#6 -> hang!

OK, here it is not an emulator problem, it is a "DOS" to Prodos conversion problem that has revealed a secondary check.

Not yet, but I'm still investigating. It works on a real IIe with CFFA3000, and according to Antoine, a real 3.5" on a IIGS, so the problem appears to be specific to the IIGS with CFFA.

Yes and no :-)

It's odd. The first time I simply booted the new 2image file - the
program booted and the attract mode demo played. YES! I thought. But my
IIGS always cold boots in 'Fast' mode (BRAM is dead), and Airheart
doesn't allow access to the classic control panel (open-apple, control
escape) so I did an option reboot, changed the speed to 'Normal' and
booted into Airheart. It just hangs on the title screen like it did
before, but I can't hear a system beep like it did with previous
versions.

I've tried leaving it for minutes to see if the game will get past the
title screen, but at 1Mhz / Normal setting, it doesn't seem to get to
the attract mode of the game.

I've also tried launching from System 6, and from my ProDOS 8 v2.0.3 on
my 8-bit games compilation
(http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/files/8-bit_Games.zip) and I get
mixed results. Leaving my ZipGS accelerated system on 8Mhz, the game
will sometimes get past the title screen. Other times not - I don’t
know what’s causing the difference. At 1 Mhz, it doesn’t ever play.

I tried turning on the ROM01’s alternate display mode, as that affects
some of your other hacks (like the Goonies) in getting them to work on
a ROM01 IIGS, but that resulted in a very messy display of the title
screen and beep, beep, beep until it hangs, looking very stripy.

I guess this may also be a bad time to let you know that your ProDOS
hack of Impossible Mission doesn’t work on my IIGS with CFFA3000 either.

With more time, I’ll have to try it without the CFFA3000 to know for
sure that’s the cause of the problem. But it’s hard to live without!
