I've had my PM G5 Quad for a few months now and the last time I used it was
early June. I was done and shut it down. now I get no response from the
power button at all. it behaves as if its not even plugged in.
I made sure the power cable was in, even tried it with other outlets, I
tried the reset button on the MB, I replaced my pram battery. Still just
nothing. not lights on the MB and just no response from the power button
at all.

how can I test to see if any power is coming from the Power supply without
disassembling the whole machine? is the Power supply my next place to look
as the cause?

I really don't want to lose this machine now, I got it all built up and
running the way I wanted it.

thanks

Kevin

Hello Kevin, my G5 died in much the same way. It turned out to be a fuse in the power supply. Check the 5V standby in the power connector, also. There are instructions if you search on the web. Basically, with all power connectors disconnected, short green wire with black with power supply plugged in and a regular 12V DC computer fan connected to DVD molex connector.

Repeat, search on web and youtube first. Last year, there was still a web page for repairing these power supplies for around $85-100 in New York. You can also ask for help from www.badcaps.net.

Good luck.

Bob
