                        GADGET EDITOR PROJECT
                        ---------------------

After the last posting on net.micro.amiga which is soon going away,
I got an overwhelming response. Our project is nearing completion
with Ray Larson taking the baton. Ray has squashed most of the
preliminary bugs, and we even had an offer for a name for the program.

The best name award goes to The Polymath (aka: Jerry Hollombe) who
suggested the name of "Egad!". Unless anyone objects, I think we
should call it that.

The only other issue we have to deal with is how to distribute this
very wonderful Amiga programmers tool. It is definately destined to
be on one of Fred Fish's disks, but I would like to see it posted to
the nets. The only problem is it's size. There are 20 source
modules (some fairly large) plus documentation. I've been reading
Usenet for 2 years now, and haven't seen or heard of such a large
posting.

We have limited funds available, so if you wat to Beta test the
Gadget editor, please send me a blank diskette and a self stamped
return addressed envelope to the address marked below, and I will
copy it onto the diskette and pop it back in the mail. I will
also include a bug report form which you can Xerox and mail them
back with any bugs you might find. I would also like to know
a little about the kinds of gadgets you plan on designing with Egad.

The Egad program will be posted on the commercial nets (And usenet, if
the sites won't mind the volume), in 2 forms.

1) An Arc'ed collection of the executable and documentation for those
that just want it and don't want the hassle of having to compile it
or modifying it for Lattice. It was compiled under Manx.

2) In source form (20 modules). But Lattice users may have to modify
   it to work.

I have noticed that there doesn't seem to be a standard for uploading
executable files to Usenet, so any enlightenment is encouraged as to
which method to use.

The Egad program is now taking on a commercial look, but it is free
and a contribution of the Programmers Network and the people who created
it.
