There's (apparently) nothing about his home-made levels at his site.

is that when I do Save & Restore (F11, F12),
because the screen is in [full screen mode]
the (F11, F12) dialogue box is too big and
half of it can't be seen.

Is there something I can do?

Thanks, HH

There are 54 level, from 1 to 54, plus one at 150
Here the BMP of all the level:

Have fun!

I wondered if he had an Apple2 emulator
(or some tool to Save/Restore state,
change speed, etc.)
back then (in "1986?")

Without [Save/Restore state] feature/function, etc.,
I think testing (test-playing) of a level can
take 10 or 20 times as much time.

For me, the Save/Restore dialog box is ~95% visible, certainly enough so that I can access all the controls (ie. buttons & inputs etc). I'm using Windows 7.

If possible can you take a picture (with a camera) and upload it somewhere so I can see how it appears for you?

I didn't notice TomCh 's post for a long time...
I responded as soon as I saw it.

Is there a way to set it up so that if someone responds
to a specified thread, I get an email notice ?

Thanks, HH

That's interesting that you get this oversized dialog.

When I tried it (with AppleWin 1.25.0.4 on Win7-64) the "Save State" dialog box gets resized so that it fits within the full-screen (640x400) screen.

Perhaps it's related to the customisations (or theme) that you have made to your Windows UI? (The PNG shows that you are running with a dark theme.)

It never occurred to me to say more about them.

Ah, but the bitmaps give away most of the solutions, too. :-/

No, I worked on a real Apple IIe at that time.

Yes, I spent many days creating them. I had such time to spare back then.

The Level 7 -- seemed impossible for a long time, then suddenly I saw how to solve it.

re: "mylode.zip"

I also wondered -- did he have "monitors"-- friends who would help
testing (test-playing) of a level and give feedback
and encouragement?

I also wondered -- did it get some deserved recognition, such as at
a contest?

Thanks, HH

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lode_Runner
........... It is one of the first games to include a level editor, a feature that allows players to create their own levels for the game. This feature bolstered the game's popularity, as magazines such as Computer Gaming World held contests to see who could build the best level.[1] (in 1984)

:-)

Yes, most of them require several attempts, in order to understand how the enemies move, where the trapdoors are, etc. That kind of play would annoy me now (much like Rick Dangerous).

No, they were developed entirely in a vacuum. No-one else saw them until I put them on my website.

> a contest?

No. I didn't subscribe to any computing magazines that might have announced the option, and I wasn't in the USA where I might have heard about it from friends who did.
I wonder if the competition levels are available somewhere? That would be an interesting comparison, to see what they favoured - difficulty over presentation, for example.

Thanks again for the BMP pictures.

[giving away of (the locations of) the pitfall blocks]
annoyed me a little at first,

but now I'm glad I have the BMP pictures.

When the creator (Peter Ferrie) said:
>>> Yes, most of them require several attempts, in order to understand how the enemies move, where the trapdoors are, etc. That kind of play would annoy me now (much like Rick Dangerous). <<<

I think he was expressing a similar (or related) sentiment.
