When I got my ST, I noticed that my disk drive power supply was
different than the others I've seen. My power supply is black and has
the cable coming out of opposite sides of the box. All the others are
grey and have cables coming out of the same sides of the box. The
cable going from the power supply to the disk drive is thicker on
mine, also.

Here's the question: I heard that the old system unit power supplies
had surge problems. The way you could identify one of these power
supplies is that the cables came out of opposite sides of the box! My
system unit power supply seems to be ok, but should I worry about my
disk drive? (I hadn't turned off my ST in about two weeks, and when I
did, I had troubles booting).

Thanks.

get rid of that old power supply, i have had nothing but trouble
with my ST until they traced the problem to the power supply and
gave me a new one (both cables on the same side).
