I'm having a problem using C-Kermit on RIT's 4.2bsd system to talk to
the Chameleon Terminal Emulator's Kermit on my Atari 800XL. Packets
get sent down to the Atari, but the first time it has to write to the
disk (after about 10K of data) things get messed up. Possibly the disk
I/O is taking too long and the host starts re-sending stuff before the
Atari is ready. Possibly Chameleon just gets confused. Possibly *I'm*
confused. Somehow packets start appearing on the screen. After about 10
tries, C-Kermit realizes nobody is responding and times out, leaving me
to tell Chameleon to quit file transfer and resume terminal mode. Has
anyone else experienced this? Any suggested solutions?

To: Jeff Van Epps - your return address is too long for my mail system.

Jeff,

I had the same problem with Compuserve and Hometerm. I found an advice
file on Compuserve which mentioned interference from the printer (or
printer driver). I unplugged my parallel printer from the 850 interface
BEFORE booting. It worked. If you are superstitious give it a try.
