From "Artificial Intelligence Abstracts", vol.2, no. 11-12, Nov-Dec, 1985:

CARTOONIST CREATES AI-BASED, INTERACTIVE COMIC STRIPS

An Israeli cartoonist has adapted AI techniques to create the first
interactive comic strip. "Biotoons," the creations of Yakov Kirschen,
contain two characters: a Jewish mother and uncle who take up residence
in a personal computer and interact with the user in novel and humorous
ways. Both appear on the screen and answer typed questions with a
variety of answers stored in the program. "Biotoons" will initially be
marketed for the Atari 5200ST (sic.) personal computer and represent
an innovative use of AI-based advances in operator-machine interactions.
