Roberto Orci Confirmed to Direct 13th Star Trek Feature
-------------------------------------------------------
It appears to be official. Following a recent report that
he was after the job, Variety is reporting that "Star Trek"
and "Star Trek Into Darkness" screenwriter / producer
Roberto Orci will direct the 13th franchise feature. Orci
is joined on the project by screenwriters Patrick McKay
and J.D. Payne, who will help him pen the next adventure of
the Enterprise crew.

There's no announced timeframe for the next Star Trek film
as of yet, but the franchise will be celebrating its 50th
anniversary in 2016. If the plan is to have a film in
theaters to tie into the occasion, expect official
announcements on the film in the very near future.

It's irrelevant what Orci does since Abrams has already destroyed the
franchise with his two garbagised version movies peeing all over real
"Star Trek". :-(

I've been a Star Trek fan since its debut in the 60's and through each TV
series that came along, watching it develop, change and grow. The remake of
the saga in Star Trek X, and X1 the movies, was throroughly enjoyable to
me, despite whatever flaws the critics have conjured up. What the new
writers did was not only to hold the Star Trek to its original mission but
give another dimension to the characters and as a result create a new
loyalty among a new younger generation. The 'real Star Trek' is an ongoing
story that continues to add to the past, questions the present, and gives us
hope for the future.

IMHO,

Real Star Trek established the characters, their ages, etc.

JJ Abrams' butcher, so-called "Star Trek" was in reality "Spy Kids:
Star Trek" where the character's were butchered versions to fit *his*
idea of what Rodenberry "should" have done ... hence yet another reason
it aint real Star Trek.
