I used a Radeon 7000 in my PM7600 w/ G3 400MHz upgrade. Ran OS X and OS 9 both bootable also classic in X.

Speaking of "oomph," I have to ask: have you upgraded the processor in your 9600/200?
The reason I mention this is because I was fortunate enough to own the 350MHz model. From what I can remember (admittedly, it's been a while), OS 9 ran slowly enough at *that* speed performing relatively lightweight tasks.
It's worth recalling that, while the PM9600 can indeed run OS 9, the machine debuted in 1997, and originally shipped with System 7 installed. If you're going to run OS 9 on it, I can't help but wonder if you wouldn't also benefit from a CPU upgrade card as well so that you don't end up with a frustrating experience?
Of course, my memory may be playing me false here (and, naturally, you can always stuff the PM9600 full of RAM to help speed things up), but messing about with OS 9 at 200MHz sounds painful to me. Perhaps someone who is currently running OS 9 on a stock PM9600/200 can comment on the user experience and tell me how I've got it all wrong? :)
Best,
James Fraser
