GUNJOU (KIRIHARA IDUMI) Manga
群青; Gun-jou
Released: 2011
Author: Sakamoto Kou
Artist: Kirihara Idumi
Genres: Comedy, School Life, Seinen, Slice Of Life, Sports(track
particularly, running specifically)
Michi Yomogihara, a petite girl with slender legs and a running pace
that puts motorcycles to shame. After spending most of her life abroad,
she returns to Japan to pursue her passion and her idol. Upon coming
face to face with said idol, however, it becomes apparent that things
won't go as smoothly as she had hoped.
bliss notes: Michi is to running what Yawara is to Judo, i.e. naturally
gifted and highly trained. Note that she has spent considerable time in
Kenya whence cometh a plethora of excellent runners so this is sort of
strange(Japanese?) take on the influence of environment.
She idolized another runner and has been disappointed to find that the
former runner has given up on the field.
I have just finished the first two chapters but intend to read all
which are available. It would be worth buying.

Now at Chapter 18 and holding up very well. A tear jerking story of a
female coach who dies untimely and the influence this has
on the team she trained. By the way the runners' dream is victory in
the Ekiden long distance relay race.
