I assume you mean one of the ADC displays that get power from the video card.
Nothing special -- if the power supply was marginal enough for an ADC display
to push it over the edge, there's nothing you could realistically have done
to avoid its failure.

However, ADC doesn't draw a great deal, which is why Apple ended up
abandoning it.
