Many years ago (1990) I was channel surfing and stumbled up my first
taste of MST on the Comedy Channel. Soon I was hooked, and it became my
favorite TV show of all time.
I watched faithfully until it went off the air completely several years
ago. Meanwhile I had taped or acquired almost all of the episodes, from
first to the last season.
I still watch my favorite episodes, when I want to be cheered up. But by
now, hardly any of the riffs surprise me, but I still enjoy them.
Perhaps now, most of enjoyment I derive from the old tapes isn't so much
the hilarity anymore, but the nostalgia. By now, the time when most of
my favorite episodes came out(Seasons 2,3,4) could almost be referred to
as "the good old days."
I've also been reading this message board since about 1998. Wow. How
different it was back then! Always crammed with 1500 messages dealing
with MST, and just about anything else to do with pop cultural events.
Hardly anyone left.
Of course, this isn't surprising, I suppose. MST hasn't been on for
years, and with no new episodes to discuss, there's nothing to hold the
group together, and gradually, people fade away, little by little. But I
do still wonder where the heck they all went.
Sometimes, I also wonder what people would think of the original MST
shows if they saw them today, for the first time? A lot of the riffs are
of the "timeless" variety, but much of the humor, relating to the
then-contemporary items and people, would just bring a puzzled look
today. ("I want a Clark Bar!" - "Huh??").
Ah, well. Time marches on.
The dance is over, but, thanks to the tapes, the melody can linger on. -
And about now, I'm in the mood for a song from that hot, new teen star,
Eddie Crane!

So, another ratmm old-timer! I started reading ratmm in 1995 and it was
still in its heyday when you joined in. What a big bunch of funny,
clever people! They started to drift away and then a different group
joined when MST moved over to SciFi, IIRC. In the last few years,
where did most folks go? Most of them went to LiveJournal, where
there's an MST group and individuals post amongst themselves. Also, by
now people are Facebooking, like all the other kids today. But I
wouldn't know.
I keep watching my recordings - increasingly DVDs - too just 'cause they
keep on being funny.
