Well, I believe there are some "Battlestar Galactica" fans who are
waiting to see the finale,
and it's served as a place to see the (amazingly good, IMHO) new
Doctor Who -- although it's been CUTTING DOWN the episodes.... But
otherwise, yeah, what you said ;-)

recently happened upon five seconds of a "Sci-Fi Original Movie" and
knew right away what it was (something that really, really needs the
MST3K treatment!)

I only finally got around to seeing the most recent series of
New Who when it made it to BBC America. Somehow I wasn't able to connect
the weekly threads in rec.arts.sf.tv about its airing to what channel it
was on, which maybe shows how often I even think of the Sci-Fi Channel as
a possible entertainment source. And back in the days I even watched
them air _Probe_. Well, two episodes of it.

Those movies are covered in some kind of adhesive substance that
makes them stand out, aren't they?
But, as was observed, who knew that it was the spelling of the
channel name which kept women from watching _Mansquito_?

Or Game Show Network, which just causes one friend of mine to
sigh and shake his head sadly about whenever that subject comes up.
But, surely, another network giving up on its unique qualities to become
a discount USA Network will make it finally achieve the ratings and mock
prestige of the actual USA Network, someday.

And even "USA Network" seemed ill-named back in the early-90's days when
80% of its programming was cheap Canadian...

I share your fondness for Commander USA; I was also rather partial to
Night Flight. But mostly, I miss USA's cartoon express, where they
showed the Hanna Barbera classic cartoon series with the original titles
and credits -- something that Boomerang never does.

You know, it was USA Cartoon Express which first exposed me, to
my memory, to both the Roman Holidays *and* Help, It's The Hair Bear
Bunch. And one of these days I might even forgive them.

Let's not forget The Nashville Network, which changed its name to TNN so
it could show WKRP reruns with all the music changed.

I never encountered Where's Huddles before Boomerang, back then
airing as a couple hour chunk on Cartoon Network, introduced me. I was
simultaneously fascinated and forced to flee.
Hm. According to Wikipedia, in Italy, The Roman Holidays was
known as `SPQR - Sembrano Proprio Quasi Romani', or, ``They really seem
almost Roman''. That's a name almost endearingly awkward and clumsy.

That's actually pretty clever -- the "SPQR" acronym dates back to
ancient Rome, where it stood for "Senatus Populusque Romanus," "the
Senate and the people of Rome." It's still in use by the modern city of
Rome.

I first encountered "Where's Huddles" back when it first ran on CBS in
the early 70s. Alonf with "Roman Holidays" AND "Wheelie and the
Chopper Bunch" AND "Speed Buggy"!

Well, now, Speed Buggy at least had ... uhm ... Oh! Yes. It
had that episode where the villain has figured out a way to cry out,
I think, 'Metamorpho!' and cause various parts of his body to expand
or contract by quite remarkable degrees Kelvin. Since villains in the
Speed Buggyverse are legally required to drag the main characters into
the story even though Speed and company haven't got any reason to notice
the evildoers, Metamorpho pulled the gang off their silly pretend race
of the week so that he could shout 'Metamorpho!' and grow or shrink
various limbs until Speed et al pretended to be interested. And then
they had no choice but to eventually foil Metamorpho by making themselves
quite small and driving between his legs.
Why I can remember *that* is beyond me.
Meanwhile Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch was just weird.
In any case at least none of them were These Are The Days.
