Hi Guys!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Anyway, has anyone heard of this
movie "Quiet Cool"? It stars James Remar (who plays Michael C. Hall's
Dad on "Dexter") I caught it on Sundance two weeks ago. Remar is
this cop who ventures into Ventura County to nab some marijuana
dealers who killed his GF, and to say it deserved the MISTie
treatment is an understatement. The dialogue is laughable, and the
acting is just _so_ over the top in a 1980s sort of way. I cracked up
when out of nowhere they sample the Mama and the Papa's "California
Dreaming" towards the end, and kept wondering what would have happened
if Mike and the Bots picked this apart in lieu of "The Girl is the
Gold Boots" or Max Schell's "Hamlet".

I know it's all counterfactual. But a guy can dream, right?

Jack

I haven't seen Quiet Cool (1986), does it compare to Stone Cold (1991)?
I'm fond of the latter's over the topness. I've not sure if there's
anything the bots could do with it, but I'm not sure what the bots
would do with anything till I see it.

Easily dream, sure. I know people are (inexplicably) upset at
the 'Hamlet' MiSTing, but I'd never heard any serious disputing of the
choice of 'The Girl In Golden Boots' before.

I haven't seen 'Quiet Cool' --- I'm not even sure I've got the
Sundance channel, although on one of those channels I did recently see
a documentary about the Bauhaus school --- so I don't know how to
compare them. Mostly I'm just hoping to make it through the '31 Days
Of Oscar' absence of TCM Underground intact.

Trust me. This was a stinker from start to finish. Ham-handed
acting, a farfetched plot that was a cross between "Deliverance" and
"Rambo". Remar's the only saving grace of it...though that might be
stretching it a bit. It kind of reminded me of Raul Julia's
performance in ODATMB. Like, he was he only one taking it seriously.

As an aside, I checked Wikipedia and...ODATMB was written by John
Varley? _The_ John Varley? As Keanu Reeves might say, whoa.

P.S. From now on I promise not to use 'like' or 'whoa' in a
coherent sentence. I am not a 60s surfer/valley girl.
