I see that Tom Shales is now claiming that the director of "Manos: The
Hands of Fate" was not, in fact, a fertilizer salesman, but was
instead an *insurance* salesman

Is Shales on to something, or what? Could he, perhaps, have sold
insurance on fertilizer?

That's one among several very dubious assertions in that very sour
article. Hal sold a lot of things.
