Oh, it's all a hoax anyway. Everyone knows Burlington is
in Vermont. And it's Bennington anyway.
In fact, the one time I saw Rutland, Vermont, with my own eyes
was as a result of being confused about Bennington and Burlington while
in search of an odd cheeses shop. I probably wouldn't have gone at all
except I had a friend from Binghamton who needed some amusement for the
weekend. And, yes, from Binghamton, both Bennington and Burlington can
be amusements.

Not Castleton? If she's involved in Community Theater, I think I can
just about picture her in my mind :-).

Would I spoil it if I said that THERE WAS NO CHEESE?

Yes, similar-sounding city names can provide HOURS OF ENTERTAINMENT!
I think a similar concept made up much of the Peter Greenaway marathon
film, "The Falls" ;-)

And now... A woman working in a Burlington Coat Factory in
Wisconsin! (polite applause)

We had no idea where Castleton was except that it was somewhere
in the Greater Rutland Municipal District. We did drive past something
we were pretty sure was the airport, though we didn't get a good view
of it.

Very nearly, in fact. It was supposed to be a shop with odd
cheese and all sorts of quirky foods, and while the store turned out
to indeed be full of peculiar New Englandy foods put on display in
wicker baskets and on small wooden counters all over a very wood-based
barn-inspired store, it turned out it wasn't as interesting as the
brief description we'd read about it on the web suggested. I picked up
a bag full of odd cheese components mostly to feel that the whole drive
had accomplished something other than establish how narrow and
uncomfortable Vermont roads can be when you're driving them for hour
after hour with no clear signs that you're getting somewhere.

Yeah. From Troy, Bennington isn't an unreasonable drive out
and it's even got the Hemmings Motor News gas station, which has a
bunch of antique cars around and an interior with old car-based stuff
collections, so if you want to see what Mobiloil cans looked like in
the second World War you can. We spent an afternoon in frustration
trying to find the cheese shop when the only food-related thing that
was anywhere near that street address in Bennington was a closed Burger
King. We ended up going to Burlington just to work off the frustration
at not finding it the first time around.

She hadn't just visited relatives in Flemington, had she?

I guess it would have been too far to go to the BURNETT DAIRY
COOPERATIVE, <http://burnettdairy.com/> (warning for those at work
with MOOING-SOUNDS-intolerant bosses!).

Vermont: It's the other, *smaller* Wisconsin! :-)

Oh, no, Burnett wouldn't work at all. It's not on the highway
in Vermont, or the other highway in Vermont.
