From what I see (doing side-by-side image compares) is his nose is
slightly narrower and is not bulbous at the end anymore. The under-eye area
is much more shallow and not as meaty. This gives him a freaky look, but
the big change is the hairstyle with a lack of black color.

The "awfulplasticsurgery" webpage claims a chin implant, but
side-by-side compares with images found by GOOGLE in his earlier years does
not show any obvious signs of a chin implant.
http://www.awfulplasticsurgery.com/archives/000255.html

I think he just got older (he's 58 now), thinner in parts of his face,
is getting goofy-looking poses snapshotted (Brody Jenner is much more
attractive to the press), and the new lighter-color hairstyle makes him look
kind of womanly. His face also has a weird doll-like plastic skin shine.
This might be a result of hitting male menopause and losing his normal
testosterone levels.

Aside from that, he really looks like he did in his prime (minus the
fine muscular build) except for a thinner nose, an unflattering haircut, and
an older face.

Maybe there's some sort of surgery exchange going on. Like Secret
Santa, but with nips and/or tucks!

I see he was in the movie "Can't Stop the Music". Does anyone know if
that was MSTable?

If you mean, is it bad, yes, deeply so.
If you mean, in a harmlessly riffable way, I'm still not sure. 0_0''

I would hope that, at some point, Tom finds a way to, in fact, STOP
THE MUSIC. But, naturally, something goes wrong, and they have to go
back and watch the rest of the film ;-).

Didn't that get made into a well-regarded Broadway musical? I guess
it can't be all bad!

I guess a special appearance by Bruce Jenner is out of the question,
then? (Maybe they could have him rollerskating around in his series,
in an attempt to try out :-))

The movie was fun, cute, and winsomely-appealing; the stage musical is
an off-script gagfest that wants to pick "Hairspray"'s gay
pop-culture/movie-bash pocket so badly, they can taste it. -_-
(Seems like there *was* a good stage musical there originally, before
producers started playing up the "Hy-uck!--Worst movie in the world! :-P
" gags in the pre-press...)

Again, people--Let's keep it clear: Steve Guttenberg? Bruce Jenner?
The "YMCA" pool number?...That was the *other* movie.

Curiously, Leonard Maltin gives "Xanadu" 1-1/2 stars and "Can't Stop
the Music" 2 stars. Maybe Valerie Perrine, alone, is worth 1/2
star? :-)

P.S. Thanks, Bruce, for the Jabootu link! (I now look for "Jabootu"-
like icons in other films, where he sometimes shows up, for very
little reason. For instance, in the not-bad French gangster pic "Le
Doulos", where amidst the beating up of molls and wearing of much-too-
big trenchcoats, one of our "antiheroes" glances at "Jabootu" as he's
about to set up another crime.)

I think you've hit on something (not figuratively) with the "doll-like
plastic skin shine". I think that is what creeped me out. No one has skin
like that naturally (at least not on this planet). He has no pores, and it
looks like he doesn't have to shave. Even when the testosterone levels drop,
virtually all men still have to shave (and some women after menopause also,
but I digress).

Um, for *losing* 1/2 star, apparently...She was in CStM.

(See?...SEE?? No one can draw the clear line anymore!!)

Derek Janssen (we didn't *ask* the movie to come out in the same summer!)

So you're thinking that CStM would rate 2-1/2 stars if she *weren't*
in it? That's the same as Maltin gives "Laserblast"!

It raises the age-old question: What would happen if we combine
Valerie Perrine and Eddie Deezen? :-)

> (See?...SEE??  No one can draw the clear line anymore!!)

I can't see the line, it's too clear! Next time use something other
than the *clear* marker! ;-)

> Derek Janssen (we didn't *ask* the movie to come out in the same summer!)

Did we ask the "The Blues Brothers" to come out around the same time?
I *would* have, if I thought it would have done any good!

-Doug Elrod (dre1@cornell.edu) :-)
Olivia Newton-John caught the Katy, left Bruce Jenner a mule to
ride....
