Are there any modded kernel roms available for vice? I would love to have
one with just a simple dos wedge installed. I have one for jiffydos, but
that requires true drive emulaton.
Any links would be helpful. I tried google but did not find what I am
looking for.

Yes, plenty. I have collected more than 40 different kernAls from the net,
just by googling and surfing. And I am sure there are more I have overlooked
or not found yet.
Here you can grab what I have:
iancoog.altervista.org/hid/CCS64_kernals.7z
This is a simple tool to determine which kernal is mounted. It's based upon
an existing routine and extended by me.
iancoog.altervista.org/hid/kernaldetect.rar

AFAIR none of those have *just* a dos wedge but also disk speeders, so TDE
is a must.
May I ask what's the problem having TDE always on? It's the only way to run
everything without troubles.
