Hello,
I did some looking around on the net to find a 8 or 10 wire shielded cable.
If you order from a company, they generally sell it in lots of 1000 ft @
$300 and up.
I only need at most 6 feet.

Since the XP1541 diagram shows 8 wires connected to a male D 15 pin
connector, and the other end goes to the existing XM1541, I thought that the
extra cat cable I have on hand lying around would work.

Another question: Can you connect a parallel cable to a 1541 drive and do
away with the serial cable alltogether ?

I plan to use Peter Scheper's method of putting a D 15pin female connector
on the back of the disk drive.

Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks,
Wayne Andrews

I put a 25-pin D-connector on the side of my 1541 and used a normal
available 25 <-> 25 extension cable to connect my PC to my 1541. I
know somebody who used a 36-pin Centronics connector so he could use a
normal printer cable.

As an extra I added a switch that enabled me to switch between the IEC-
lines going to the D-connector and the lines going to the original DIN-
connector on the back. This enables me to update/copy from a floppy on
the fly without the need to typ several commands to avoid bus trouble.
