Hi,
I want to build an arcade-cabinet with different emulator, e.g. mame. I`m
now looking for a c64-Emu for Linux, where I can start the games via a
"button-press". Only selecting the game and start it...without typing
Load"bla*",8,1...
What about an Emu like MESS. Is there a frontend for the different types of
emulated systems?
Any hint?

Vice is the best Linux Commodore emulator. I remember I once compiled
it for full screen output (you have to run it as root).
To automatically run a game, use 'x64 filename.[prg|p00|tap|d64|t64].
That would be easy to script into a custom front end, and there are
plenty of languages that would do it very simply. For example, put all
your C64 files in one directory and have your script read the directory
contents and generate a list of games for selection.

Some C64 classics (currently 100) have been converted to Java format:

All you need is a www browser. DL the whole site, unplug & play.
