I have several Machines lieing around (C64, C128, SX64) but I start
running out of floppy drives due old age. Also my collection of disks
takes quite some space on my table so I have wondered if someone has
already realised a virtual floppy for a real machine.
You surelly know the several Xxx1541-Kabels to attach a 1541 to a modern
computer and then use it from Starcommander or your favorite emulator.
I am looking for the other way round, using a real C64 connected to a PC
which acts like a Harddisk, a Floppydrive or some sort of IEC-Network.
From what I remember about programming the CBM-IEC-bus it should be
possible to programm this totally transparent toward the C64 with most
configuration done on the virtualfloppy/server, e.g. under Device#8 you
get a D64-Image, under Device#9 you get c:\c64files. Based on the
classic listen/send-system I can even imagine to share files between
several machines at once.
Is there already some solution available to my idea?
