Was digging through some old, archived discs the other day and came
across a CG trailer for AB on the PS2. I had heard it was canceled, but
upon looking for more info I found this:

http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/alteredbeast/index.html

"We sink our claws into the Japanese retail version of this
shape-shifting action game."

So, I'm guessing it did actually come out? Did anyone here get a chance
to try it?

I don't know, Bel, but a LOT of recent PlayStation 2 releases have had
little to no hype or press, and their retail distribution (at least
here in Canada) has been hit or miss. I'll go into a store like
Toy's'R'Us looking for SNK Arcade Classics Vol 1, have the staff tell
me there is no such game(?), and instead find Ratchet and Clank: Size
Matters and think,"I had no idea it was ported to the PS2!" Some
games, like Iridium Runners, show up in my town LONG after their
release dates, while others never do: I'm starting to think that the
North American release of Virtual-On: Marz was a hoax! ;)

I have managed to buy these recent PS2 games: Arcana Heart, Heavenly
Guardian, Obscure 2: The Aftermath, Mana Khemia: The Alchemists of Al-
Revis, and Baroque; of these, Baroque is the only one I had followed
more than a month prior to its release. My new shopping habit is to
check out Gamespot's New Releases for the following week and run out
and preorder any interesting PS2 games from that list!

Altered Beast was in development for PS2 for a long time. From what I
remember it started off as a sequel to
Zombies Revenge which was a beat-em-up spinoff of HOTD. It was
reworked into Altered Beast. The game was canceled at least once
before being resurrected and released in Japan only.

You can get a copy on ebay

I think SNK Arcade Classic Vol 1 will be in Gamestop beginning of next
week. I hope it shows soon, so I can get it and see Ironman.
