"Atari BASIC: A Self-Teaching Guide (XL Edition)" was, along with the
Atari BASIC reference manual (which I distinctly remember reading some of
while I was going somewhere in the car with my mom, and laughed about
the fact that there was a "POP" command :) ), was what I used to cut my
childhood programming teeth.

Today I spent an hour or so, whizzing through the first couple of chapters,
having my 5yo son type in some BASIC. :) Good times.

He eventually got distracted by his infant brother (and possibly a bit
excited from eating a bit more Easter candy), and wandered off to play
with another geeky thing he's technically too young for: an electronics kit :)

I am now hankering to do more TurboBASIC XL programming. *nostalgia* :)
