An ex-girlfriend of my best friend got over 7 million.

A friend of mine can play Q-bert until the arcade shuts down. I am not making
this up! He can go on for 4 hours on one quarter, and sometimes does! I don't
even want to think what his high score is, but he told me that past some level,
the game's difficulty level does not rise anymore. So, if you make past that
without any problems you are guarranteed to go on till your arms fall off.
This friend of mine now works on playing two Q-bert machines at the same time...

Very true. Once you pass a couple hundred thousand, nothing new happens.
In fact, you acquire the ability to predict what and when the machine
will throw at you next. About 6 of us in the lunchtime crowd perfected
this some years ago; one stayed around enough to turn the machine over
(he claims) and after that, we simply counted Qberts left to kamikaze after
some time-period (usually one hour).
Of course, we used to attack each new arcade game in turn, and usually
managed to produce one or two experts at each. One Stargate/Defender wacko,
two Food Fight zombies, and a nest of Galaga players. BEFORE we learned how
to cause the aliens in Galaga to stop shooting at you until wave 256.
Many scores verifiable by close examination of back wall of UMd Macke room.

This sounds novel...(and confusing. How far apart are the machines?)
-dave
p.s. Has anyone looked inside a Q'bert machine to see if there REALLY IS a
hammer in the bottom or not???
