And it seemed like every day that someone was posting a message to
net.startrek that had something to do with DR. WHO and *nothing* to do
with STAR TREK. It was bad enough back some months ago when this newsgroup
was deluged with postings describing some "wonderful" scenario in which
Who meets up with the *Enterprise* crew. But when we get messages that do
nothing more than tell us more than we ever wanted to know about how long
Dr. Who's scarf is (if we're lucky, it's long enough with which to strangle
him to death), especially when that person commented that there seemed to
be enough interest in DR. WHO to justify its own newsgroup, why *shouldn't*
we tell him there is one.
The reason that messages appear day after day, is that the netnews
postings take their time ambling around the network, so folks don't read
everything at the same time. They read the messages on different days, and
they respond on different days. When one person posts his reply, he might
not find out for a few days that other people have posted a reply also.

I have no wish to denigrate those who like DR. WHO. Even though I despise
the show myself, I will put up with seeing discussions of it if it's in
an appropriate newsgroup. If Who discussions appear in net.sf-lovers, I
really can't complain, since the show *is* sf, and many of the postings in
net.sf-lovers come from ARPANet people who don't see net.tv.drwho. But
DR. WHO has nothing to do with STAR TREK, and discussions about it have
no place here.
