The reports that the next Star Trek movie will be "lighter" or
even humorous fill me with unease.  Remember the last Superman movie?
The first Superman movie was good, the second was better, and the
third, which was supposed to be "lighter" and humorous was neither
and not very good either.  I hope ST doesn't fall into the same trap.

I agree on your comments about Superman, but ST has done a good job
with "light" episodes in the past.  E.g., "The Trouble with Tribbles"
and "A Piece of the Action" were a bit silly, but are on a lot of
trekkies' "favorite episode" lists.  Exception: "I, Mudd" -- I liked
this one, but several people didn't - don't ask me why...

Of course, the difference between a TV show and a movie is, well, uh,
"How much can we take?"

Personally, I would like to see a full length movie in which they
visit the 20th century again.  COTEOF, "Tomorrow is Yesterday",
and "Assignment: Earth" are among my favorite TV episodes.
I guess I just enjoy stories about time travel and its paradoxes...
