Zenna Henderson used racial memory in her human-like aliens The People.
She wrote several novelettes and short stories about The People, almost
all of which were put into two novel-length frameworks, and published as
PILGRIMAGE (1961) and THE PEOPLE: NO DIFFERENT FLESH (1967). Both books
are currently available from Avon.
