[May I have the next volts?]

Here is my question: can the Compaq power supply be beefed (beeven?) up
or replaced by a heartier one?

Here is why I ask it: My Compaq portable is stuffed. I have an
after-market 10 MB Winchester and controller, an internal modem, and a
clock/ram/serial port. Result: the picture on my screen wiggles (in
normal text mode only). Since I can reduce the wiggle by removing most
of the extras, I believe that the power supply is at fault.

By the way, I welcome arguments supporting an alternate diagnosis.

I will summarize all replies to the net.
