While attending a Star Trek convention this past weekend, I heard
a talk by Bob Greenberger, who used to work for Starlog and is now
working as an editor at DC comics. I'm not much of a comics collector
myself but I regularly read this newsgroup and thought you folks
might be interested in some of the things I heard about.

Bob is an Associate Editor on "Who's Who in the DC Universe" and
"The Crisis of Infinite Earths" and newly promoted to editor of
the Star Trek and V comics. He said that they won't be doing
anything in "Crisis" that would cause any books to be cancelled.
Any books that are ending are for independent reasons. Some character
deaths will be coming up over the summer.

In response to reader requests, the V comic will start using characters
from the novels as well as the series. Bob attended a party given by
the producers of V for the merchandisers and talked to some of the
actresses from the show. They like the comic's stories better than
the screenplays they've been getting and wished the writers for the
comic were working on the series. (Non-comic-related aside: the
actress who plays Diana wants a merchandiser to make white chocolate
mice, she's tired of "eating" rubber ones!)

The Star Trek comic will continue filling in between movies, hoping not
to contradict anything. Issue 16 ends the Mirror universe story, 17
will feature Sulu and Uhura on a secret mission, 18 will be about
Scotty on shore leave, 19 is the Chekov story written by Walter Keonig,
20 will be a solo story for Sulu and 21, though not definite yet, may
be related to a series episode, David Gerrold is interested in writing
one that would be about the tribble's home world. The annual for '85
will be about Kirk's first day as Captain of the Enterprise, using the
characters from both the pilot episodes. The annual for '86
will be a graphic novel of Harlan Ellison's original script for
"City on the Edge of Forever", which, as many of you may know, was
very different from what was finally filmed.

See net.startrek for a further con report and STIV movie rumors.
