I think I need the assistance of a person who can read Japanese and has
a moment to spare.
Manga Fox reports that this series is licensed. I would like to know
if it is licensed and if so for what sort production, to which
region?
Below is the main site for this manga and it is mostly in Japanese so...

< http://www.square-enix.co.jp/magazine/yg/introduction/fudans hi/>

Thanks for your attention!

There's no mention of any licensing info on this page. It's some sort of
transvestite manga.

Yes but it is transvestism for the sake of *love*.
The central character is in love with a fujoshi and at his sister's
instigation adopts the persona of another fujoshi to attempt to get
closer to the girl he adores. In his male persona he is prince
of the school but totally and completely ignored by the object of his
affections. As the fujoshi he becomes much closer to the girl who
begins to have feelings for the him (as her). It is very funny and he
has as well some male otaku friends all making for very amusing
interactions. Now Fudanshism (Fudanshi Shugi)is a very funny manga with
what may develop into a triangle with only two bodies but 2 perceptions
of the male.

Thanks for your assistance with this matter but I wonder
who Manga Fox thinks has licensed the manga?
I can still find chapters all over the net but they are
very slowly released..

I think there was a movie called Ladybugs starring Rodney Dangerfield where
he made his son wear drag so he could play in girl's soccer team. I think
there was an Amanda Bynes movie where she attended a boy's school.

Cross dressing appears to be a very common theme in Japan perhaps because
many men there are pale and petite and can pass for girls.

I have never read Manga Gangan so I was only familiar with one serial from
this magazine: Until Death Do Us Part

http://www.square-enix.co.jp/magazine/yg/introduction/shigaf uta/

Wow, they are up to Volume 21 already and I am stuck at 10. I can't bring
myself to spend ten dollars on a manga so virtually my entire collection
consists of what I could find at a book sale or at Book Off whenever I visit
Southern California (twice a year). And I only browse through one dollar
section.

So Bobbie, how do you pick what manga to read? Do you have a favorite
genre?

Well there is a theatrical tradition and one of the greatest of heroes,
Yoshitsuni (may be mis-spelled) who back in the 13th century helped his
half-brother Yoritomo establish the first Shogunate was reported by some
to be as beautiful as any woman. The females that invented the Kabuki
were banned from playing so that the roles had to be done by specialized
male players. The samurai were frequently taught to despise women and
so homosexuality was rife. The pleasure
quarter of old Edo had boys as well as girls in the brothels.

Not particularly a favorite genre according to the common genre
definitions. But I like stories about creative people who are young
(because there a very few about creative older people). So slice of
life about mangaka, slice of life about would-be-mangaka and doujin
artists. Some favorites are Genshiken right thru Genshiken Nidame so
far, Family Compo a gender twisted family that is very creative and
very different, Bakuman, A Drifting Life which is the thinly disguised
life story of a great mangaka, Flower of Life, young hopeful mangaka,
MANGA NO TSUKURIKATA, and G SENJOU HEAVENS DOOR which is about same plot
to start as Bakuman but which breaks loose and gets wilder because it
does not follow the simple work hard and be successful formula.

For reason of that theme being at the forefront of the book I just paid
way too much for the last volume of "I'll do better tomorrow", another
that fails to follow the simple success story as a relatively untalented
40 year old former salary man attempts to become a manga artist but so
far 5 volumes in he has not been published.

In the book I posted the question about the sister and her friends
including the girl whom the boy wants to win are fujoshi doujin artists.

Now many of these books are available at the San Francisco Public
Library and maybe you could get some of these at your local
library or somehow set up an account with the SFPL and borrow them
from there.

I also like stories about strange individuals since here in San
Francisco we have plenty of people who are quite different from the
average. Something like Welcome to the NHK? but not so dire in many
cases. I also like stories with the sports background especially if
it is baseball. So I will look at anything by Adachi and hope to check
out some other things like Princess 9 and wish I could read the original
manga for Yawara but I have all the anime for that and as far as I can
tell that anime follows the manga very closely.

I was lucky in that I started my interest in anime and manga while the
local video rental shops were still in business. So I got to
watch a lot of stuff that interested me in manga. I just got around to
watching the Touch movies though but my interest was aroused by seeing
a single scene in Kimagure Orange Road about 10 years back. First I
found the manga scripts online and years later found the whole manga
which is more coherent than the anime online. In the anime of KOR they
try to do a version of Sukeban Deka, which has been presented to the
public in every media that the publishers could conceive but I got the
anime and not long past I found the online version of the manga.

With all the stuff available online in at least partial forms, I read a
lot of bad stuff but I don't mind since I have learned to stop
and say no more of this trashy nonsense. Even with some real books full
of text.

Well I have to sign off and get my rest.

It has more to do with the fact that women been banned from Japanese
theatre in the 1600s. The laws were loosened in the early 20th century
allowing women to appear in Noh and cinema but they are still prohibited
by from performing Kabuki. Thus, all female roles in Kabuki are played by
men, some of whom specialize in playing female roles.

Very true. However, it was pretty much the same in Europe and women were
not allowed to perform in Shakespeare theater. (See Shakespeare in Love.)

In Saudi Arabia today, if a woman is raped, she's charged with having sex
with someone besides her husband. This has been in the news lately because
they attempted to impose the same law to an European woman working there.
