Hi, everybody.
I'm a new comer to this news group, but I've found it is a very active one.
I bought a Commodore 64 just yesterday at Montgomery local shop, but I
found it should be much cheaper than I payed for $189. Is it true that
Commodore 128 is coming out at the same price as C64? Did the company
announce 25% off for C64? If it is true, I'll either refund it or ask for
a lower price. I payed the disk drive for $249, and MPS801 for $149.
Is it a good buy? I'm a litter bit blind.
Thanks for any advice.

Last week's New York Times said that Commodore, citing sharply decreased
sales, will be lowering the wholesale price of the Commodore 64. This
should drop the suggested retail price to around $150, with discounters
getting slightly less. As for $249 for the 1541 disk drive, GIVE IT BACK!
Harmony Electronics, in Brooklyn New York sells them for $179. Call them
on their 800 number for more info.

In today's Los Angeles Times, Toys R Us advertised their new 'everyday'
prices. C64 for $150, 1541 drive for $200, color monitor for $210, and
Plus4 for $200.

I have seen a lot of articles saying the lowest price 1541 disk drive
is only 179$. Is this the old drive or the new drive with the better
closing mech. and quieter, head?
If it is the old drive then I wouldn't pay 10$ for it! If it is the new
one then go for it ---

And while on the subject, I've seen a lot of ads for Harmony
Electronics claiming ultra-low prices on items that they did not
have in stock for months, such as the 1701 about a year after
the 1702 was introduced.
So much for Harmony.

A friend recently bought a 1541 from Harmony (for $177), so it is NOT
an illusion.

I called Harmony a while back to get a price on a printer. They told me
the price quoted in their ad was for cash, amd that if I wanted to use a
credit card it would cost me more. They also wanted to tack on about 15%
of the purchase price for shipping. I told them thanks for the infor-
mation.
