Subject: Devil Crash / Alien Crush CD?

Hi, folks. I've been wondering about this for years, so I thought this
would be the logical place to ask about it.

About a decade ago, I bought a Japanese anime magazine and it had an ad
for a new videogame music CD containing tracks from the two PC-Engine
pinball games, Devil Crash and Alien Crush. Ever since then, I had always
wanted to get ahold of that CD since I loved the music from Devil's Crush.
But, I've never seen it anywhere in my searches.

A quick search on a game music website got me this:
http://gmronline.com/info.asp?CatNumber=TKCA-30097

By the tracklist, it looks like the CD I saw the ad for way back when,
with arranged versions of the Crash/Crush tunes. Has anyone else heard of
this CD? Better yet, does anybody OWN this CD? I _really_ want to get my
hands and ears on this particular CD. Mail me if you have info. Thanks.

You're in an advantageous location, Chris. ;-)

I've found some great soundtracks that I didn't even existed, listed on Y!
Auctions Japan at:
http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp

I don't know if this specific CD is there, but... start looking.

Here's a couple of interesting ones right now:
http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d44503394
http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k6178945
http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b48877637

(Don't pay attention to the prices - this is just an indication of some
neat products)

Oh, and the English-language search mechanism, like most Japanese sites
such as amazon.co.jp, works only about 5% of the time, so give up on using
English.

Two major location to search would be:

Auction->ongaku(music)->CD->Game Ongaku->Game 1  (the
biggest sub-category)

or:

Auction->Omocha,Game->Game->Telebi-Game->NEC->PC Engine
(and subcategories)

But don't limit yourself to those categories, because people are constantly
mis-categorizing things as well.

Sadly, I've had to resort to buying Y! Auctions via the Rinkya service -
which is fine, but just very expensive due to the extra charges.

I've also seen some older stuff re-released on Taiwanese labels like SM. I
usually prefer the original Japanese release, but if it's all you can
get.... I recently got a Galaxy Fraulein Yuna 2-CD set (one from anime,
one from PC Engine game) in this format on the SM label.

Thus spake David Shadoff (daves@interlog.com):

The one big problem with the SM label is that the CD releases are not
authorized. That is, they tend to republish music without an official
license to do so. Many are not aware of SM's questionable legal status.
SM CDs are, in general, banned from sale at such events as major anime
conventions due to this issue.

Personally, I strongly recommend against buying SM label CDs because of
this. I can understand how some may feel that buying an illegal CD in
the absence of new, legitimate CDs is acceptable. However, I feel the
same way about this that I do about copying PC Engine/Turbo games:
don't do it, or if you do it, don't tell me about it. And /certainly/
don't try to make money by selling me an illegal copy!
