The CGE people had a nice little display down in Kentia Hall. They showcased
virtually every system pre-Saturn. They had a TG-16 setup with Bonk,
Bomberman, Splatterhouse, and a few others. Was nice to walk away from all
the new cutting edge stuff and relax with a few minutes of Bonk's Revenge.
They also had a nice little display mock up of a Turbo Express with a little
description plaque underneath. Almost felt like looking at an Express in a
museum. Don't recall seeing a TG-CD unit, though I could have just missed
it. There were definitely no Duos around. Anyone else go and see something I
maybe missed?

Konami had a English language playable demo of Ys VI. They changed Adol's
character graphic a bit. Beyond that, it looked like a straight port. Kudos
Konami.

In other news, Working Designs was boycotting E3 for the second year in a
row. Not that have much to do with Turbo anymore these days, but I did get a
little chuckle out of the story behind thier absence.

Gone but still not quite forgotten, I guess.

Hi there. I've started programming some fun things for the Dreamcast thanks
to the SDL library. I was hoping someone could point me in the right
direction for TG/PCE coding tutorials.

As an aside, I am a returning member to this list. If I remember correctly I
used to be amongst your ranks in 1995. I'm sorry I was away for so long but
I'm glad I am back ;)

I played through Ys6 when it first came out in Japan. Fun game. I didn't
know what to think since it went all 3D and everything. :) Anyway, the
music was nice. Kinda reminded me of playing Ys on the PCE. For some
reason I felt Ys6 was shorter than the ones on the PCE, but it's been
awhile since I played those, so maybe it's just me.

I bought the limited edition of Ys6, which is all you could get for the
first month or two after release. Among other things, Ys1-5 is included
for free. Ys1, 2 and 3 are the original PC98 versions and Ys4 and Ys5 are
the ones on the SFC. They are all emulated.

Not much to say about PCE these days it seems. However, about a month ago
I was up in Tokyo and bought a lot of PCE stuff. :) I keep hearing that
there's less and less PCE stuff than before but for the last few years, it
seems that the quantity has been pretty steady. Granted all the so-called
rare stuff isn't as readily available as it used to be.

With that being said, just in March, I managed to get Bazaaru de Gozaaru,
The TV Show, and Go Go Birdie Chance. I've been reading online that those
are some hard games to find. YMMV is suppose.

Subject: Meteor Blaster DX update (finally).

A quick update on the Meteor Blaster DX game. After much
(and I mean MUCH) beta testing, feedback and comments
(plus a few seance sessions, just for good measure), I
am pleased to announce that Meteor Blaster DX has been
sent off to the CD Pressing plant (as of 13:00 today,
EDT).

In the next few days I will get a better idea baout the
actual amount of time it will take to get the CDs back, but
I am expecting it to be shorter than last time (8 weeks, for
Implode), and hopefully closer to half that time.

MindRec.com will be updated in the next few days, with
full information.

(end of the new information).

Now, for thsoe of you wondering: "Just what in the devil is
Meteor Blaster DX?" Well, this part is for you. Meteor Blaster
DX is the SCD version of Meteor Blaster -- an Asteroids clone
for the PCE. MB was released (in a very early form) to several web
sites late last year.

To give a quick run down of what to expect on the MBdx CD (SCD,
really):

  o 99 game levels, 20 separate backgrounds
  o Power ups
  o Boss character
o 4 Game Cinemas: title, opening, ending, credits
o Full CD Audio (17 tracks for MBdx)
o 2 bonus games: Implode Caravan Version and Loop
  o Hidden features / cheats

About the bonus games:

Implode Caravan Version: this is a timed version of Implode.
It was originally made for the Midwest Classic Show (Sept 2002)
and only 3 copies were made. A few small modiifications had to
made for this to fit on the CD, but it's there.

Loop: a new puzzle game for the PCE. This game places tiles
on the screen in a rotating fashion, and your task is to spin
the tiles to make loops (hence the name). The completed loops
are then removed, allowing more pieces to take their place. The
more pieces you remove, the faster the game gets.

I will make an announcement once the CDs are delivered and
available for purchase.

The Midwest Gaming Classic is going to be this weekend again up in
Milwaukee. I've been keeping an eye on the project for a while and I was
going to show it up there if the game was ready in time. If you still have
a guy up in Milwaukee that could bring an early copy, I'd be happy to show
the game on my Duo in the play area of the show, and you could also bring up
some flyers to promote the game if you like. The MWGC is expecting about
2,500 - 3,000 people this year, and it's being promoted in several media
outlets and through a cross promotion with the popular Lazer 103 radio
station. If you'd like a little more information, you can check out the
website at www.midwestgamingclassic.com.

We should have a great deal of Turbo stuff up there this year... I'm
expecting to have a good mix of imports and domestic stuff up there,
including stuff like Dracula X, Sapphire, Dungeon Explorer 2, and Gain
Ground.

Hope you can make it up there. =)

Later.

This is great news!
Congratulations to Bt once again on his most recent accomplishments.

Bt, you can put me down for a copy. :)
