Subject: emerald dragon- 2 CDS?!?!?!?!

hey list,
i had a day off here in tokyo so i scrambled to akihabara and
picked up Emerald Dragon which i have never played before. what are
your opinions on this game? like many games for the system, it comes in a double cd case but i
was stunned to find a second disc in mine. what:s this about? i won:t
have a tv for another few days yet. the discs are nearly identical
with green from 8 to 2 o clock. the game disc is white on the other
half while the other disc is that shiny silver of the disc itself. the
second disc says (some kanji) then *MOOK shirizu* (series?). there is
also a little book of artwork and a brief paragraph at then end which
mentions the pc88, 98, x68k, msx2, towns, and pc engine...has the game
appeared on all of these systems? underneath the paragraph is an
autograph. anyway, this is a really cool package. i don:t have it
with me cause i left it back at my apartment but, ANYTHING you can tell
me about this including your opinions or advice on playing the game,
would be appreciated. thanks, george

well, akihabara held a few surprises for me today. i found two copies
of Darius Alpha. it:s not the first time i have seen the game for
sale, however, the price is astronomical thesedays...
148,000 yen!=  about $1,380 US dollars
and this is a used game.
by comparison:

Sapphire-------------$250
Magical Chase-------$105
Dead of the Brain---$90
Macross 2036-------$40
Dracula X-----------$85
Duo RX--------------$125
PC Engine LT-------$900

also, i need help identifying some games. i found this game which
was a super cd and had a some strange looking monkey on it. the
graphics didn:t look all that great but the game was going for about
$100. what is it?
as an aside, the only other time i:ve seen a game go for over
$1,000 was for the NeoGeo. there is a shooter called Blazing Star
going for $1,200 and some NeoGeo comic quiz game going for
$2,200...unbelievable. anyone know about these games? thanks, george

Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim will make its way to a console some time before
September 2004, developer Falcom announced today. A console port of the PC

That's wonderful, but unless it sees a Gamecube or X-Box release, we still
won't be seeing it over here. I'm sure it's still too "graphically inferior"
for Sony to want it on their console. Blech.

No, the game didn't actually get released as a 2-disc set.
Yes, the game was released on all those platforms.

Please see this website for differences:
http://emedra.the2d.com/

On the PC Engine platform, there were two releases:
Once, as the double-CD case with manual and art book (CDROM was the
white-and-green one), and once as a "MOOK" - a magazine/book with a CDROM
included, fromDengeki MOOK. In Emerald Dragon's case, it was a "capture
guide" book, and I believe the version of the game was a full version
(rather than just a playable demo).

There were 3 MOOKs in the Dengeki series:
1: Emerald Dragon
2: Bakuretsu Hunter
3: Seiya Monogatari (An Earth Fantasy Stories)

There were also other MOOKs released by other publishers, such as:

Tengai Makyo Kabuki Den (this may be a playable demo)
3x3 Eyes (I just got this, so I don't know what the game CDROM is - but the
book is artwork rather than a player's guide)
Record of Lodoss War 1
Record of Lodoss War 2
Kaze no Densetsu Xanadu
Develo Assembler (for programming)
Develo BASIC (for programming)

George, you should take a look at this then:

http://auction.rinkya.com/shopping/status.php3?action=itempage&url=http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d41509809
This is only the second time I have seen this item for sale, ever.
And this was the less expensive auction (the last one was over 150,000yen)

Bazaru de Gozaru.
It's a puzzle game, similar to Lemmings, but it seems to be aimed more at
children.
Actually, it's a good candidate for game translation (to english) - it's
basically playable without modification, and most of the text to be
translated is actually graphics. Hiragana rules the day, and there isn't
too much of it.

hey everyone, thanks for the many replies. if i understand correctly,
the MOOK cd was not originally part of this package but the art book
was? is this right?
now, onto some othergame identifying. in this case, it:s label
identifying. i saw STRIP FIGHTER for sale yesterday. ifi:m not
mistaken, this game was not made in japan but in taiwan (?) korea
(?). now, next to it were about 5 or six more games that appear to
have been made by the same company. none of the games looked
particularly great (which means nothing, i know) but they did look
pretty low quality. any info on these? are they worth picking up?
are they rare? they were each going for about $20-$30.
finally, now that i have my emerald dragon (and i:d still likesome
feedback or opinions on this game), i:m considering picking up some
more RPGs. yesterday, i found Anearth Fantasies and i seem to remember
hearing good things about it. anyone haveanything to say about that
game? it:s going for about $40 right now (i picked up Emerald Dragon
for $8)..
continuing on the RPG train for a moment, here:sa list of the RPGs i own:

Tengai Makyou I-III
Dungeon Explorer II (US)
Cosmic Fantasy 2, 3, and 4 part 2 (is part 1 worth it?)
Beyond Shadowgate
Gulliver Boy
Order of the Griffon
Legendof Xanadu
DragonSlayer 1
Ys I-IV
Babel (if that counts as one)
and several more... however,
i have been thinking about getting Xak I-III (i think parts one and
two come together), Anearth Fantasy Stories, Australius, LEgend of
Xanadu II, Brandish (this is an RPG, right?), et al. any
recommendations? thus far, Tengai Makyou II & III and Beyond
Shadowgate are my favorites thoughI haven:t really been turned off by
any turbo/pce rpg i:ve played. thanks in advance for any replies, george
