Actually, Space Wars came out at least 2 years before Asteroids, and
probably more like 3 or 4.
From my perspective the game never really made it (sales-wise) and
I haven't seen one in quite a while. It is one of the better games that
have been made, but it isn't quite suited for arcades. It is a shame that
it wasn't put out for home games; I think that it would have been very
successful. Spending a quarter every 90 seconds simply isn't cost
effective for a video wizard.

Asteriods is vintage 1979, do you really think there were popular
video games 3 to 4 years before 1979???

Actually (GHOD, does this make me feel OLD!) Space War was originally
programmed on the original hacker's machine, a modified-beyond-all-belief-or-
recognition PDP-1 (yes, Virginia, ONE) at MIT somewhere around '62. The
original author(s) if any are not yet retired may step forward...
