Anyone out there in Japan right now? I kinda want a Duo, but eBay prices
are STEEP and if I remember correctly you COULD come by a Duo affordably
in Japan. Having once had a GREAT TG-16/CD/Arcade Card rig and having
traded it for a Saturn package (that I still have to this day), I'm
pining for some of the greats. I know I won't get my hands on Dracula X,
but it would be nice to play some of the old games I used to love, like
Ninja Spirit, Ys III, Gates of Thunder (WOOT!), etc...

Can anyone out there help me?

I was toying around with selling my turbo collection and wondered of a
ballpark price for it. I won't list it all here now because I am at
work, but it consists of an express, accs., turbotuner, Kisado, around
20 or so pc engine titles and about 80 US titles all hucard including
magical chase and Bonk3.

Let me know if there is any intereste for this package.

Based on this current auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3530675458

I would say you could probably get close to $1500 for it but I think I'm not
alone when I say that this auction might be running with some false bids or
the high bidder will retract the bid to force it to a much lower one, which
he/she most likely has with another account. Whenever I see auctions like
this, I immediately assume that some foul play is going on since the item
does warrant that high of a price. What yours is worth would depend more on
the titles that you are offering. Selling and express with tuner and a
Kisado might bring in some extra money since the Kisado is no longer freely
available.

My turbo express' volume seems awfully low. i don't have any way to
measure it in terms of dB or anything, but i can BARELY hear it with the
volume all the way up and in a fairly quiet room. is this normal or did my
unit get somewhat ruined over time?

Actually his bidding record is fairly solid. Below is a link to zaxxonq13's
bidding record. Also. The bid still stands at 10 + hours and I know
evilbay has locked out any bid backouts after 12 hours to closing of
auction.

As most of you know, I have a Duo that has some problems reading Cd's. I
am debating from getting a Duo-R from Japan, or having my existing Duo
Repaired. I need a duo to read regular and CDR backups, and didn't know
if it would be a good idea to use a Duo-R to do that. Maybe do both
options and have my U.S. Duo to read backups???

There is one other small matter--since when does the winning bidder
backing out "force" the seller to go to the second bidder? If the
winning bidder flakes the seller can do what he wants, eat it, relist
it, or whatever. If the seller finds the next bid too low for his taste
there is no reason to follow through on the second, non-winning bid.

Back in 1996, I bought a TurboDuo, Kisado adapter, five controllers
(including an Avenue Pad 6), and about 150 games for $500. The games
included Ninja Gaiden, Flash Hiders, Street Fighter II, and Neo
Nectaris, among others. It was quite a good deal.

Figure that was seven years ago, and the games are little harder to
come by nowadays, and maybe $1000 for a collection of 80-some games and
a TurboDuo isn't *that* farfetched.

Sadly, I sold off the collection bit by bit. I made a good sum of
money, but it would take forever to get all those games again.

Fwiw, and this is probably something that only worked for me, and
anyone else that tries it won't have any luck, BUT....

My TurboGrafx cd unit once started having trouble reading cds.
I took it apart, and put some lithium grease on the end of a q-tip,
a very light amount, and rubbed it very thinly on the two metal shafts that
the cd rom mechanism moved on. Put it all back together, and the
thing's worked perfect ever since. Lithium grease is that white pasty
stuff, not hard to find. I ain't saying it'll do anyone else any good,
but hey, it fixed my TG cd rom problem. Mebbe the Duo shares
a similar cd rom mechanism. Hell, this probably wasn't even worth
noting. Eh.
