Apparently Japanese site Quiter has revealed Hudson is bringing TWO games in
the Far East of Eden series to both the Playstation 2 and Gamecube this year.
One sounds like a remake of Manji Maru and the other will be totally new.
Anyone play these games on the Turbo CD? How are they? Not that there's a
huge chance of these coming over here, though I'll bet at this point Nintendo
wouldn't miss its chance to put out another RPG for itself in the states...

Has anyone else noticed that Bonk looks suspicously similar to Dopey
from the Walt Disney movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? Perhaps
this is one of those "Separated at birth" things.

That's the point. It's not like there were a pile of Japanese N64 RPGs that
didn't come over here. I think this generation Nintendo realizes more how
important they are. Publishing the Golden Suns and the new Final Fantasy
cube title themselves proves that.

I think the biggest surprise about this news is that Hudson is
actually showing some guts and resolve. I've been really disappointed
with them. Outside of Bomberman and the very cool Super Producers
(Dreamcast), I haven't been too excited by much of what they've done.
I know they did one of the Bloody Roar games but, generally, when
Konami bought a huge share of Hudson last year, I thought it was over. It's a good idea to port Tengai Makyou Manji Maru (FEoE) cause it ws
such a huge success when it was released. I believe it sold over
2,500,000 copies for the PC Engine way back in 92 or 93 (whenever it
was). It is a fantastic game. We could probably argue about whether
Fuun Kabuki den (FEoE III) is better or not. I think part three is a
little better but I haven't given II my full attention. Anyway, it was a popular anime, a popular series of games (with 4
for the PC Engine, 1 for the PC-FX, 1 on Saturn, 1 on NeoGeo, and 1
[maybe2] on SNES. Has the series even been touched since Tengai Makyou
IV on the Saturn? (another awesome RPG- COMPLETELY underated). There
was supposed to be a port of part III for the PC-FX in 1996 and was
eventually pushed back to 1998 and it was dropped and I remember a
group in Japan petitioning Hudson to finish it but they never did.
There were even some English pleas on there. Anyway, since that time,
I've heard nothing new about Tengai Makyou.
It would do well I'm sure. Also, Nintendo would gladly publish this
one in the US. If either Sony or Nintendo publishes their version, the
other would likely follow suit. For those of you who haven't played the Tengai Makyou RPGs- they are
definately worth playing. Tehre are two versions of the first one
(Ziria); a CD & SCD. Manjimaru and Kabuki (whom you also see in Saturn
Bomberman) star in parts II & III respectively. The cinemas are funny.
the MUSIC IS AWESOME!!! The only turn off (beside the language
barrier) is that there are TONS of battles (I'm talking like Skies of
Arcadia frequency here and even more than that). But, it helps you
build experience quickly. Tengai Makyou IV for the Saturn is also
fantastic and is also very much worth checking out. There is Tengai
Makyou Zero for the SNES but I hear it was pretty weak compared to II,
III, & IV but still a good game. The rest of the versions are fighting
games which are also pretty good.

But all of these are rather Japanese heavy right? That leaves me with only
2 options:

A) Learn Japanese
B) Wait for it to be ported to a US version

Since "A" is not likely to happen anytime soon, I'll have to wait for "B".
One day I will learn the language but other priorities keep me from having
the free time... I'd also love to see the Sakura Wars games translated and
released in the US. They made a whole slew of them for the Dreamcast.
