The 32X in general was a bad idea. At the time there was a widespread
belief around the industry as a whole that the 3DO (and to a much lesser
degree the Atari Jaguar which in late 1994 was recieving widespread
distribution at places like Venture, Wal-mart and other non specialty
retailers) would develop a large enough user bsae to be a factor when
the Saturn came out. In 1994 when the 32X was released in the US Sega
had already launched the incompatable Saturn system in Japan. Sega just
released the 32X as a distraction to consumers leaning towards investing
500.00 on the 3DO.

Within 9 months of the 32X's introduction in the US Sega had released
the domestic version of the Saturn effectively killing the Genesis add
on. Sega launched the Saturn earlier then their previously announced
launch day to get a bigger jump on the Playstation and to hold off 3DO
and Jaguar sales.

With regards to the 32X version of Doom, it was decent, but the Atari
Jaguar and PC versions of the title were much better. Much of this was
based on the limitations of the 32X, another part of it was due to the
general rushed nature of the 32X (and it's software) to the market.

Actually, the 32X has some added sound channels, and it sounds quite
good in games where they take advantage of it like Knuckles Chaotix.
You can really see the new sound capabilities in action on the sound
test for this game. Most people tend to disagree, but my brothers and I
really thought it had an awesome soundtrack.

Hello again, all.

Thought the best way to get a roll call (since I'm very curious who's still
aboard here) would be to have everyone reply to the list with their favorite
HuCard - PC Engine or TG-16.

I'll begin!

My favorite HuCard-based game by far is Blazing Lazers/Gunhed. I can never
get enough.

Next please!

OK, this thread has gone on long enough.

Please stick to Turbo-related stuff...

ObTurbo: Gads, that last Johnny Turbo analysis on that website is truly
evil. What sort of sick, twisted perverts ran TTi's marketing department?

For me, it's a tie between Bomberman '93 and Magical Chase.

Galaga '88, R-Type, and the Soldier series of shooters were next in line...

I also really enjoyed a few that probably weren't so popular, like:
BeBall (Chew Man Fu), and
the first Doraemon (Cratermaze)

And just for completeness, here are a few games that I wish had been
translated because I heard good things about them. I might have really
enjoyed them, but I don't understand enough Japanese to play them in native
Japanese...:
Bubblegum Crash
Jaseikin Necromancer
Tower of Druaga

Anybody want to collaborate on a translation of these ? (How about
Valkyrie no Densetsu ?)

Id have to say my favorite HuCard at the moment would have to be Final
Soldier. I really love the soundtrack and the action is well the best of the
series 2nd only to Soldier Blade.

Aw man, pick one hu-card? hmmm....i'll break it into categories.

best music goes (hands down, imo) to LEGENDARY AXE 2
most fun to play in probably BONK's REVENGE
    most colorful is MAGICAL CHASE

but the msot important hu card is unquestionably STREET FIGHTER
2because it showed us and the world that the hu-card was a kick ass
format. i'm still amazed that they were able to pull that off on a
hucard. peace, george

My favorite has to be Parasol Stars(TG version only because I haven't
received my copy of the PCE version yet), though it isn't far ahead of
the other twenty-plus games I play the most.
