Subject: Kisado Worthless?

I have an Arcade Card Duo and a Kisado Adapter so I can play Sapphire. A
while back, I started having problems with the Duo recognizing the Kisado and
effectively, the Arcade Card. Apparently the contacts not making...well,
contact, after "so much" use. So I gave up and went without Sapphire, and have
pretty much been out of the loop for quite some time. I started visiting some
sites I used to frequent, and discovered a new convertor that reportedly works
well, but at $99.99 I'll pass. I then found out that Magic Engine now plays
Arcade CDs and therefore I can happily play Sapphire on my PC! So, I have a
Kisado Adaptor and an Arcade Card Duo that are of no use to me at this time.
But is my Kisado worthless/useless? At any rate, I guess I could sell them
both if anyone is interested. Give me an offer. And no, Sapphire is not for
sale under any circumstances.
:)

This could possibly be a problem with the Arcade card itself. Have you
tested the Kisado on any Japanese hu-cards? I had a problem with my
Arcade Card Pro, it just quit working. I bought it new and took good
care of it, but it just quit working. My import hu-cards still worked
fine with a Kisado tho. If you haven't tested that, you may want to,
just buy a cheap import or something. It should've cost much to replace
that arcade card as opposed to buying a new convertor.
The Mirai(as pcenginefx.com calls it) is supposed to be good. I have
one coming to me, should be here by the end of the week. $100 seems
steep, but considering that those green diving board pieces of crap
sell for $100+ on ebay used, this isn't a bad price at all for a new
quality convertor.

Subject: Question about PCE LT w/CD-ROM2

Hi folks,
I recently acquired a PC Engine LT with CD-ROM2 and Interface unit. I've
never used one before (upgrading from the PC Engine GT) and I'm not sure if
these things are natural or simply issues with my system.

1. When I plug the LT into the wall, HUcard play only operates when the
adapter is in the left power in. Yet the right power in seems to be working,
but only for the TV tuner.

2. When the LT and CD-ROM2 are connected to the Interface unit, I can hear
the CD (I tried both CD-ROM2 and Super CD games) but no picture. Strangely
enough, when the LT is powered through the right power in (obviously I can't
get at the left side while connected in this manner) the HUcards work fine,
unlike issue 1 above when the LT is on its own.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

It seems like kind of a waste, having to play it on the emulator when
you have the actual game, system, and arcade card already. If I were
you, I would just hold on to them and hope I can get a working
converter someday.

This sounds correct.

There is an internal jumper in the interface (RAU-50) which re-routes full
power
from the left to power bus in the unit. I do not have the info on hand,
but if you
don't intend to use the RAU-50, you can jumper the pins to allow power in
either jack.

If you have problems with CD games, check and se if you have the correct
power connectors. There is a small power plug adaptor which allows to you
power
both the LT and the CDROM2 from the CDROM2 power adaptor. You cannot power
them both from the LT adaptor, however.

Hope this is correct. It has been a while since I took my LTs out and
actually hooked them up.

Revive your Kisado! You can clean off the contacts and tin them with solder.
Before you try that, you should use a pencil eraser and lightly polish the
contacts.
Also, try adding a little tape to the bottom side of the Kisado.
