Hi,
has anyone watched the English version of the YS Anime yet? It's pretty
cool.
I've only got book 1 so far though, need to get book 2. Anybody seen that?
How closely does it stick plot wise to the game? The first ones pretty much
exactly the same. Especially like the menu's which are done to look like the
game screen (With that funny old border and stuff).
Cheers
Kris

Subject: HuCard Connector Question
Hi. I was wondering what the pin spacing should be on the HuCard
connector. I found a pile of NOS card connectors, which say 0.05" for
the distance between pins. Is this correct for PCE HuCards? I don't
have anything to measure a card with at the moment and I wouldn't want
to buy a pile of the wrong connector. Physically, the connector looks
the same as the one inside the PC Engine PAC for the Laseractive.
Please write(on or off list is fine) as soon as you can. Thank you!

I own this.... only the first book so far though. I tell you, I am quite
pleased. I was worried of a butcher job, but it's nice. Even the English
dub is ok. However, you can just watch it in Japanese anyway.... :)
Speaking of Ys... whatever happened to the version that NCS was going to
release here in the usa?

It appears that he posted to my message board. Thanks to Bonie, and
others... I have been warned. Needless to say, the posts he has made to my
message board have been removed. :)
Damn those who rip people off. That is just not cool.

Hi again,
I wasn't expecting I'd be replying to myself; but here goes:
I took my Kisado with me to compare it with the connectors at the supply
house. The pin density is identical. Is anyone interested in a whole
box of these card connectors? There are two kinds, one which has a
frame for holding a HuCard, and another with no frame at all, just bare
pins. If someone expresses some interest, I will purchase and
photograph a couple samples tomorrow.
I'm surprised nobody replied to my earlier post, as I was under the
impression that the connectors were the most difficult to find component
for making convertors. Am I wrong?
Anyway, as with the last email, feel free to reply on or off-list.

The Turbo List: Our drivers carry less than $20 in cash (mainly because
they're always broke from buying TG/Duo/PCE games), but none the less,
it's just something that you should be aware of.

Certainly, if you can find the correct kind of socket, that would be great.
The problem is not pin-spacing however; 0.05" has been a pretty standard
pin-spacing since before PCI slots became popular. The problem is finding
a connector with the correct number of pins (and edge spacing), and the
correct slot thickness for a HuCard (I seem to recall that it is 3/32" or
something like that).
Some people have suggested "fashioning" a connector of the correct
thickness out of connectors of different thicknesses, or other handcraft or
makeshift strategies for a connector of the correct thickness. The issue
with this is that tolerances are pretty tight on these connectors and
HuCards themselves; it is difficult to hand-fashion something within 1/100
of an inch - and don't forget that the pins of the connector need to
contact the HuCard with the appropriate pressure.
Don't take this as nay-saying though; I think it is a good idea to further
explore the types of connectors that you have found, for the possibility of
matching against the requirements of a HuCard adapter.

Was anybody else bothered by Dark Fact being called Dark Factor? I
don't want to be a snob about it, especially since there's been so many
different translations of the game, but it bugged me a bit. Guess I was
just used to it being Fact. Other than that I thought they did a great
job and I look forward to the next volume (late March I think).
I would also like to know what happened to the English version of the
PC remake. Maybe I'll email NCS...
This is getting really off topic, but is there any interest in an Ys
fan site? I noticed that they are very few and far between now so I was
toying with the idea of putting one together.
